Fancy a dip? 10 homestays in Europe with swimming pools

As we approach summer in Europe, things are beginning to hot up. It won’t be long before the temperatures are soaring and we’re donning our shorts and sunglasses every day of the week.

When planning a trip for these hot months, a swimming pool is always a nice addition to wherever you’re staying on the trip. This is why I’ve picked ten homestays around the continent that all boast their own pools to go for a dip in.

1. Family home in Cabrils, Barcelona Coasts, Spain

The village of Cabrils boasts an amazing location in the mountains, but is still only 3kms from the coast yet still very close to Barcelona. This homestay there is a big one - it has six rooms, an outdoor terrace perfect for summertime barbecues and a swimming pool to cool down in.

2. Homestay Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain

Your host in this homestay is Alvaro – a man who enjoys going to the gym, reading, cooking, watching movies and more. He’s lucky enough to be able to keep fit in his swimming pool. Stay with him this summer if you’re going to Tenerife and you’ll enjoy it too.

3. Typical French cottage, Saint-Basile, France

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in the French mountains in a cottage that happens to have a small gym and a swimming pool? Me too. Found 30 minutes from Porto airport, this homestay is home to Tiago, his wife, daughter and dog named Piruças. It is the perfect retreat to anybody visiting Portugal this summer. The small village is by the sea, but if you’re more of a pool person, there’s one outside the front door.

If you’re looking for a spacious house with a carefully kept garden, a swimming pool and a great location, look no further. This homestay has all the above, while it’s conveniently just 700m from the beach when you fancy a change of scenery.

10. Romantic villa on the Tyrrhenian Sea, Bonifati, Italy

While this beautiful, romantic retreat is just 200 metres from the sea, you don’t need to go there to get your feet wet. Instead you can swim to your heart’s content in the villa’s very own pool. Afterwards, you can enjoy the homestay’s garden and very own orchard.
