We stayed at Kaleys for nearly 40 days and enjoyed the whole stay! Kaley and her family are really nice and friendly and always offer to help you with anything. Also her dogs are adorable too :) you can use everything you need (laundry, kitchen, WiFi, etc.) without any problem and the rules are really simple. The bus stop is just 1 minute away and the ride is really easy because you don’t need to change when you want to go into the centrum. We enjoyed our month in Melbourne a lot and we would recommend the stay at Kaleys for everyone who doesn’t want to share a hostel room with so much people and have a room for their own - yet be around a family !

Before I went with my girlfriend to study tour to Australia, I wanted to be accommodated somewhere where we will had privacy with private bathroom, and we found at Kalye’s house ,so I booked it for 3 months and now I can say that they are welcoming, friendly, very convenient great facilities and comfortable, excellent value, would highly recomend this home and family and location . ,,As a home away from home” so I decided to stay for a longer ztime. if you want privacy and to be close to the sports bar, fish and chips, pizzeria and more shops also bus stop station just 30sec. And you do not want to share one small flat with over 6 people in CBD. Kaley’s home is the right choice!!!! Lukas :)))

I had a great stay at Kaley’s house. She and her family members are friendly and always ready to help especially Kaley who will go extra mile to make sure all those that stay in her house are happy. There are bus stops that are just stone throw away from her house and the frequent bus services make it very easy to go to the CBD or explore the neighboring suburbs.

It is a nice place, kaley's family are very friendly and helpful, simple rules and you can use the kitchen and washing machine without any problem. There is a bus stop near and it was useful when we had to go to CBD, also there is a bakery, a shop groceries and a mall (Bullen Plaza) where there is a Coles, Library and other stores.

After seen the online good reviews, We have booked the room for 30 nights and decided to stay longer, but the owner asked us to pay the full rental of one month on first day, it suppose to be weekly payment and two weeks’ notice as initially agreed, we paid total of AUD 1500, After a week of stay we face inconvenient and decided to move out, and inform the owner that we are leaving. Finally we end our stay with 13 days, since we informed them earlier we expect to be return at least a week of rental, but no repayment was made. Not a suitable place for home stay, it’s kind of dormitory and or boarding house, unable to cook and even no rice cooker provided most of the utensils for private use. No place to keep your groceries, Able to make simply breakfast, suitable for backpackers and those need only a place to stay. Not suitable for long term, unless eat out. Well-located place to travel CBD.

The house is very close to the bus stop and it's easy to reach town in 30 min. In the house you can have both a heater and the reversing ac. Kaley is very helpful and is always ready to help, just text her. If you're looking for a cozy accommodation a stone away from town, this is the place.

Our experience at Homestay was ok. The house is located in a great location, only slightly away from the CBD (40 minutes), but buses close to the house. The room is a good size and a good bathroom as we had a great help from Kaley for the room upgrade and for the same price. But the bed had a terrible mattress where it had broken springs. Room was in the garage and in the laundry, had nights in which we wake up by the noise of the car and by the machines working until late at night, after 11 p.m or before 5 a.m. CCTV has to guard the safety of the house and not just the ones the guests are doing. Another issue is the mess the house found itself in during the months we spent there. It does not have anything to do with the photos displayed in the advertisement on the website. Another issue, I believe that if rules were imposed, then everyone has to follow, at least all guests. Had days when we saw other people disrespecting things that we respected. But thank you for staying with us for 4 months and the lady who lives in the residence for helping us .

    Host reply
Homestay Host Family Kaley in ,

Hi Marcus, Thank you for your valuable feedback and I'm sorry to hear that you are not 100% happy. To be honest, I am a bit shock to see this because everyday I asked you if everything is OK and you always replied with your big smile and said yes.

Anyway, I really appreciate your feedback. Since both my husband and I work full time, I must admit that we have missed some details about the house. So from your feedback, below are the changes we made.

    1. Had a straight rule of no more laundry use between 10:30pm-8am. (Applicable to all guests)
    2. Installed noise blocking sponge

We have been doing homestay for 6 years and host over 300 guests all over the world and some times it's hard to control particular behavior from some guests. Therefore, to try protect the safety of all our guests, we have CCTV around the general shared area of the house and have rules that need to followed. If you found anyone not respecting the rules, please kindly let me know.

p.s. 1, the 'helpful lady' you mentioned is my mother in law. :)
p.s. 2, the room is not in the garage nor in the laundry...:D The laundry is next to the room near the garage.

Anyway, thanks again for your valuable feedback and your stay with us. Hope you enjoyed Melbourne and keep in touch. It was really nice meeting you and sharing a house with you for 4 months. Last but not least, if you or anyone else have any issue about the homestay, please don't hesitate to inform the host. We all have busy life and sometimes we just overlooked things and we really appreciate honest feedbacks. Most of the time things can be fixed easily like asking other guests not use the washing machine at night. :) Have a fantastic day and I wish you all the best. :)

I enjoyed staying Kaley's home during my stay in Melbourne. Its so convenient to take the bus to city as it only few steps away home. The room is clean and tidy . I will miss the comfy bed there.
And all the public area, like kitchen, bathroom and lounge are always clean. Its enjoyable to cook and have your meals with other guests in the modern kitchen. Bulleen is a safe area in Melbourne and I suggest to solo female travellers.
