Father James is an academic Medical Historian working at a prestigious university. Mother Susan is also an academic and an award-winning creative writer. Three children (2 girls and a boy) attend a local high school. We live in a huge house on the edge of a gorgeous Melbourne parkland. When not in the city we spend all our free time at our beach house, and are keen surfers and lovers of the ocean. We also like road trips to the far north coast of NSW to enjoy the subtropics and our family. We live less than 5 minutes walk away from a train station that is a 15 minute trip to the city. Our neighbourhood is famous not only for its natural beauty (parklands and creek) but for its excellent cafes and shopping, and its friendly village feel. The local library is superb and has free and regular meetups for students seeking study buddies.
We are a happy family that believes in free speech and living an ethical life. With as much fun as possible.

About the Area
We are 5 minutes walk from Darebin train station which takes you direct into the city in 15 minutes. As you can see from the map we live on the edge of a wild and beautiful parkland, with gorgeous sunsets every night to enjoy from our balcony.
Ivanhoe village is home to boutique shopping and fabulous cafes and restaurants. There is also a local swimming pool, and excellent bike paths (we have bikes to loan).

Meals

House Rules
Our house rules are negotiable. Friends visiting are fine, with polite advance notice (even a quick text), but we would not welcome meeting strangers at the breakfast table, or unexpected guests. We largely eat vegetarian food, with 2 vegans in the family. With children and workers making up our family home, we all love our sleep and are strict about respecting noise levels after 10pm.

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
