Our family lives in a quiet, leafy suburb on a peninsular 9km from the centre of Sydney. Our home is a large 6 bedroom house with a pool and table tennis table. We have 3 children all in their 20's and 30's - and all are now living away from home. My husband usually works in New Zealand coming back to Sydney every few weeks. We often have other travellers staying so you can expect to meet some interesting people if you stay here.
We are originally from New Zealand but now love the climate and way of life in Australia, especially Sydney. The area where we live is very safe and is conveniently accessed by a bus service. The bus takes 30 mins to the city centre. There is also a ferry service with a limited timetable that serves our peninsular. The ferry wharf is an easy 5-10 min stroll away. It is a wonderful way to travel into the city and only takes 20 mins. You can use your Opal card or credit card on the ferry.
Our street is wide with little traffic. If you come by your own car parking is not a problem.
If you are arriving at the airport I can pick you up from the St Leonard's train station for a nominal charge of $5 or I will pick you up from the airport ($50 for 1, $60 for 2) during non peak hour. Sydney traffic can be terrible!

We just speak English at home but I lived in Mexico for one year so have reasonably good conversational Spanish.

About the Area
Our house is located on the north side of the Harbour Bridge on a peninsula so we have water nearby. The nearest shopping centre is Lane Cove which is 2.5km from our home. There are beautiful views of the harbour from further up our street.
Longueville is 9km from the city and 35mins drive to the airport, the bus stop to the city is 3 mins walk away.

We do not like smoking and would prefer non smoking guests.
Short (5min) showers - Australia is a very dry country and we all try to conserve water.

Very lovely host. Frances made me feel like home when I needed it the most. She is also very accommodating and helpful if you need. The house is clean and safe.

I stayed with Frances for about 20 days. It was a pleasant time. Frences is very nice, when I arrive she picked me up at the train station and cooked delicious meals for me. Thank you very much Frences and I will strongly recommend to my friends who wish to find a homestay in Sydney.

My mother and I had a really lovely stay with Frances and Steven over the long weekend. Their house is well appointed, clean, homely and in one of the most beautiful parts of Sydney. Public transport is within a short walk of the house (but taxi/ Uber might be needed over weekends to get you to a train station due to more restricted timetable). They are a delightful couple - very welcoming and we enjoyed some really interesting conversations with them as well as the other guests there at the time. It was such a lovely stay we plan to return as an annual event.

I had a lot of fun and happy to stay with Frances and her home stay family. Frances is so kind and helpful always. The view around her house is very good. I could visit to famous places in Sydney, had great memories for me.

Our homestay by Frances was nice. She picked us up at the AirPort. And there was a possibility to eat together with Some other guests. The bus to the city is just a couple minutes away and you can go with your Opal card.
You can have breakfast: when you want something you have to look in the kitchen and take what you want.
Frances is nice, but a little chaotic.
In the night we played Some nice games together.April 2019

It's an awesome place to stay, very quiet location and the room was really big and clean. You can get there by bus and its not too far away from Sydney Downtown. They are also very nice people and if you need anything or need any kind of information they are always happy to help.

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
