I live in the main house on the property and have 1 cabana for guests.
Guests from HOMESTAY will stay in the Bungalow during their stay. This cabin has a private bathroom, kitchenette with fridge and single electric burner, sleeping area with a large desk and a private balcony overlooking a huge mango tree and many banana and coconut trees.
I can offer you a light breakfast and you also have facilities for making your own meals. My neighbour has a small cafe offering excellent and cheap Belizean food too.
I am a tour operator and therefore have quite an extensive knowledge of things to do in the area as well as many contacts in the business. I will thoroughly enjoy either taking you or sending you to many fascinating and fun activities.
The ocean is just a 2-3 hour bus or car ride from here and very much worth the trip. As well as staying on the mainland shore you can take a water taxi out to one of the many Cayes along the 2nd longest Barrier Reef in the world.
You will find that everyone in Belize speaks English, as well as a lot of Spanish and Creole and even some Mayan!
I try to fit in a run every day and also go into town most days for shopping, the gym and any errands which need doing.
I have travelled all my life, being born in Uganda to parents in the British foreign service. Since then I have moved every 4 years or so.
I became American about 15 years ago and am now an official Belize resident. I believe I qualify as a citizen of the world - which may explain my interest in people from other parts of the world!

About the Area
My home is 11 miles east of San Ignacio, 12 miles west of Belmopan and 8 miles south of Spanish Lookout, in the Cayo district of Belize. Guatemala is also less than 20 miles to the west.
This area is full of Mayan history, artifacts, ruins and culture and while English is predominant, Spanish, Creole and even Mayan are spoken.
The bus stops right outside the property making transport very easy for visitors and is very economical at only USD$1 to either San Ignacio or Belmopan.
The Belize river is only a short walk away if you need to cool down, but I also have a 10 ft. wading pool on the property.
The neighbor's cafe offers excellent Belizean food at very low prices - and her smile is priceless!

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
