Tim and Nick signed up to become hosts on Homestay.com in September 2014. Their motivation was pretty simple: they wanted to meet new people and learn from their experiences. The couple are proud of their city, Toronto, and eager to show their guests around. Living close to the river Don, their downtown apartment is the ideal location from which to explore the city, and they're only too happy to show off the main attractions in their city.

We sat down with them to learn a little more about their neighbourhood and how they've found their experience of hosting with Homestay.com.

Why did you decide to become hosts on Homestay.com?

We decided to become hosts in order to meet new and interesting people and learn from other cultures while introducing guests to our multicultural and diverse city.

What can your guests expect from their stay with you?

We will offer our guests comfort in a welcoming home, and a safe and positive environment. We will provide suggestions and recommendations on how to navigate and enjoy the city.

The first Catholic parish in Toronto, St. Paul's Basilica. Our home in Corktown is within walkable distance to the cities major destinations.

Where are your favorite local places to eat and drink?

This is a hard question to answer as there are far too many choices to pick from. However, our favorite pub is Prohibition Gastro House, our favorite Mediterranean restaurant is Tabuleh and our go to Mexican is El Catrin. Check them on Yelp.com.

How would you spend your perfect day in Toronto?

Our favorite day in Toronto is walking the city and exploring the many culturally diverse neighborhoods.

As a local, what do you recommend visitors to Toronto and your local area should do?

We are in the epicentre of the Pan American Games this summer and there will a lot of activities for both locals and tourists. We are also beside the largest Victorian industrial village outside of Europe (The Distillery District).
