10 homestay hosts for a local lisbon experience

Find Web Summit Accommodation in Lisbon and Stay with a Local

With the Web Summit conference taking place is Lisbon's Parque das Nações from Novermber 7th-10th, the demand for accommodation will be exceptionally high.

But while you spend the day at the various tech talks and events taking place, you may want to uncover some of the hidden gems from the Portuguese capital that only the locals know. Happily, Lisbon has plenty such hangouts with the city being a mix of seemingly unending nightlife and charming, meandering lane ways.

We've put together some of our favourite Lisbon homestay hosts who offer guests a warm welcome and insight into the place they call home. Homestays let you stay with a local and get a great value experience on top of a room for the night. With prices from as little as €19 per night, you'll be hard pushed to find a better value stay in the city.

1 Sandro in Saldanha

Sandro's bright homestay is the ideal base for your Lisbon trip, located close to both Arroios and Saldanha metro stations, meaning you are on a direct line to the Web Summit venue in Parque das Nações.

Sandro lives in this beautiful, colourful home with his two pet cats and the exterior features the geometric tile prints that are so iconic in this city. Take in the hubbub of the Web Summit by day and when you need to chill out enjoy a drink on the private inner terrace in the evening.

Portugal is famous for its young wine called vinho verde, so we recommend a glass or two of that.

Chiado is a great spot for shopping and eating out so browse the stories on the hills of this neighbourhood and round it off with some steak on the stone in Restaurante Cabaças on Rua das Gaveas.

Alternatively, Aurora will allow you to borrow bikes while you stay with her, but given the heat and the hills of Lisbon, it may be best to stick with the underground option.
