Homestay in Sydney's Southern Suburbs

Jane from England stayed with Homestay Host Lyn in Sydney. In her words "Lyn's place is not just a homestay, it's a 5 star experience. She's a traveller & puts herself in your position to ensure she provides all the home comforts a traveller could want. We had so much in common & laughed a lot. House is in a beautiful situation too & it's easy to get into Sydney on public transport. I'd heartily recommend her. Get booking." Read on to hear more about her experience.

Lyn's house is lovely and the garden and facilities are superb. It was much better to stay with someone, as she knows the area and can point out local attractions, etc. It's a much more personal experience than a hotel, unless you stay in a ridiculously high priced one. The bedroom has a superb view of the water.

What did you do in Sydney?

I'd been to Sydney eight times before, so know the area well, but Lyn recommended new places and provided directions. She also showed me where the bus stops are for travel to and from the city. The beaches are superb, and I visited several at her suggestion. It was good to revisit old haunts too. Sydney just gets better and better.

Bondi Beach looking gorgeous

Any tips or advice for other travelers?

Sydney is beautiful; you must see the Harbour, the Opera House, the Botanical Gardens, Palm Beach, Manly, the Maritime Museum, and more. There's so much to see you could spend weeks there. It is a gorgeous city. Travel around Sydney is very easy especially if you buy an Opal card. Sunday travel is recommended, as there's a $2.50 cap for the whole day.

You can tap that Opal scanner from behind all day on Sundays with the $2.50 cap on any NSW transport service

How was your experience with your host?

We found we had so much in common and chatted for ages. Lyn suggested places I hadn't visited before and researched travel for me. It was she who recommended travel on Sunday to make full use of the daily cap. She encouraged me to visit the Maritime Museum, and I'm glad I did. I'd go back any time.

Lyn and I sat outside on our last night and enjoyed this wonderful sunset.
