Moritz and his friend recently traveled from Germany to stay with Nephelie in her homestay in Keratea, Greece. Moritz and his friend are both music loving twenty-year-olds. They also both had a fascination with Greek mythologies, which lead them to vacation here.

Being so near to the everyday lives of local people made me inherit and understand the culture and the way people think in Greece better than a stay in a hotel could have. It is like getting to live with a new family by your side. You can relate very well to the people by living beside them. This allows you to learn a lot about them and their lives.
We visited some temples and sights, but the real surprise was the nature and the hills with flowers, rocks and turtles. Hiking in the bear hills of Keratea was deeply impressive and made a lasting experience. Swimming in the sea wasn’t possible for us since it was a little too cold but in the summer it is a big part of everyday. During a bike trip we made a stop at a river for a small photo shoot of the impressive nature.

Go hiking or climbing the hills! I also recommend renting a car for a comfortable stay. Of course, enjoy the little things about the nature and recognise the detailed beauty within the very area. Be good to the people and they will be good to you. Take much time to see the city and be patient to enjoy every little aspect, because some things are just slower.
The beach near the homestay
Life is much slower in Greece, which we really liked. We also experienced Greece's beautiful and patient atmosphere through our host's kindness and support. It was interesting to learn about the similarities between the Mediterranean countries. Our host was great with providing us with everything we needed from groceries to information about the area and Greek mythologies.
