Choosing Homestay - I was reminded that there are great people in this world

Tell us about your homestay experience.

The room was amazingly comfortable.  Everything about my stay was awesome. Shamara is one of the nicest people I've ever met.  The area that Shamara lives in in Sydenham is very quiet - great for a good night's sleep. Shamara will also cook evening meals for you if you require for a small additional cost.

What did you do in London?

I visited a friend in Bromley. I was surprised that the area is so green and has so many parks. We visited Kelsey park and Crystal Palace where the great exhibition was held. We visited Darwin's home and that was a good experience - well worth the money. Downes village where he lived is beautiful and has great pubs.

Any tips or advice for other travellers?

Darwin's house was a stand out for me. There was so much information. I am very hard of hearing so it was great that there was so much information printed that I could read.  We also visited Lullingstone which has a Roman villa. It is in the village of Eynsford which is very pretty. The whole area of that part of Kent is packed with things to do for all age groups.

How was your experience with your host?

I was reminded that there are great people in this world. My best friend Kevin who kept me entertained throughout my holiday and Shamara, my host who is an absolutely amazing person.  It was a complete break from my normal life. So relaxing and the area was very quiet.  I enjoyed my time immensely and am saving up for my next visit already.

This is a photo of Wells Next the Sea on the North Norfolk Coast. We visited Wells during my trip. It's a lovely coastal town with brilliant fish and chips at French's.
