Calgary is such a vibrant city full of friendly hospitable people and our family is no different. We hope that you choose to stay with us during your studies or explore and discover Calgary Alberta Canada. We are a mixed culture family (European/Asian) with 2 fun loving children both over the age of 18 who since have moved out so we are empty nesters. We also have a loving, fun and adorable dog (Buster) who's a 11 year old hypo allergenic Maltese.
We have been hosting International Students from Montreal/Asia/Europe since 2012 and they've been a great addition to our family and we've come to love them as our own. Light breakfast is included. Use of kitchen schedule will be discussed. We primarily host (Students) but we're open for vacationers (short 3 months minimum or long stays 10 -12 months maximum ), working professionals or on working holidays etc... We love hosting and hope we'll hear from you.
We are conveniently located in a quiet, accessible and safe neighborhood in Scenic Acres NW. Only a few minutes walk to the bus stop, C train station, library and shops, restaurants, gym, doctor and dental offices. Very close proximity to Canada Olympic Park (COP), University of Calgary, SAIT and Junior/Senior High Schools. Family oriented, warm, friendly and most specially caring. We provide cozy living environment and we treat our students/guests with respect, care and always willing to help out in any way we can. We would be honored to share our home and family unit and make lasting friendship. Please see pictures attached, although we have recently repainted the interior with grey tones for a more neutral color. We don't host couples. Due to our previous situation we require proof of at least 2 Covid vaccination record as we are also fully vaccinated for both parties peace of mind and safety. Payment - the deposit of 25% of the full fee is required once booking has been completed collected in advance on behalf of the host to secure the room and protect against no show! PayPal is the best platform for payment and email address will be provided once booking is confirmed ! You then pay your host the balance due on arrival or up to 2 business days after your scheduled arrival date. We accept e-transfer, PayPal or cash. Rules will be discussed upon arrival. CLEANLINESS and RESPECT is outmost importance.
*** Please take note that I unfortunately experience migraines triggered by strong food smells. Therefore, I kindly request my guests to be considerate of this condition and inquire with me before cooking anything that could potentially affect it. Cooking is allowed 1-2/week as the kitchen gets busy! We ask that each guests cook their meals good for 3 days at a time to avoid traffic in the kitchen. Thank you in advance for understanding!!

About the Area
Our house is located on the north west side of the city in a quiet and safe neighbourhood. We are 20 minutes away from city center and airport. Bus stop is only 5 minutes walk from the house and can also take a short cut and walk to the C train station in 10 minutes. Very close to many amenities in the Crowfoot shopping center. University of Calgary is 7 minutes c train ride and SAIT is 15 minutes c train ride.
We have many shops like cafes, bars, restaurants, fashion boutiques, specialty shops, churches, library, swimming pools, movie theaters, recreation facilities and many more. Parks are close by.

Meals
Hosts can offer a complimentary light breakfast at their discretion. All other meals, including a full breakfast, might incur an additional cost, if offered. Meals and any additional payment should be arranged directly with your host.

House Rules
• The kitchen area is to be kept clean at all times. That includes washing your dishes, wiping down counters and ensuring all things are put back in their proper places
• Absolutely no smoking and/or drug use is permitted in the house. If this occurs it is grounds for immediate departure from the home
• No eating in bedrooms and no food in bedrooms .Space will be provided in the kitchen cupboards to those who wish to have their own groceries. You are responsible in keeping your room clean/tidy.
• One shower/bath per day maximum 10 minutes.
• Washrooms are to be cleaned once per week and a schedule should be determined between those using each washroom
• No guests allowed.
• Front Door must be double locked at all times.
• Please ensure lights are turned off after you. Also, only turn on lights when it’s dark out and lights off after 10 pm.
• Use of the washing machine (once/wk and no less than 10 items or not over a full load. Empty the dryer lint tray.
• The only footwear that should be worn past the front entrance way is slippers, socks or of course bare feet.
• Notification needed if you are returning home after 9 PM as a safety precaution.
Note: Check in time anytime after 12 noon and Check out time is no earlier than 11 am.

Payment Method: Please note that we require our guests to pay 25% of the booking total to us in advance of the booking to hold your room (on top of the 15% service fee paid to Homestay.com)
Cancellation Policy: We ask our guests to give us at least 7 days’ notice for any cancellation. Any cancellation later than this will not be refunded.”
We use PayPal or e transfer as your payment method as it is the most straightforward and safest method of payments.

Agnes and her husband Ionel were very supportive and caring hosts. They gave me a lot of help, useful information, kindness, (and sometimes great meals and snacks :))
Their house was so clean and located in a peaceful area. Although it was not too close to city center, it’s convenient to take a city train or go to a variety of stores / restaurants / schools. Thank you so much for all the support, so glad to have had the start of my life here with you!December 2023
Our son stayed during 4 months at Agnes and her husband home. I would recommend them a 100%. The guests were absolutely lovely, respectful and careful, very easy to communicate with, before and during the stay. The house was very clean and quiet, and the bedroom was spacious and well equiped for a student. The location of the house was also convenient as it was very close to bus and C-train stations. Only very positive impressions about Agnes and her homestay bedrooms.

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
