House Rules

If you are visiting Canada to go to school or work, we may be just the homestay family for YOU!
We are family of four living in Langley, BC, Canada in a beautiful home in a safe, accessible neighborhood. (Langley is a nice suburb of Vancouver, about an hours drive away.)
Dean enjoys hockey, Sherri likes to read & to cook & volunteering at the school. We go to work Monday to Friday. We have a very friendly dog, Luna, a Wire haired pointing griffon.

There are three bathrooms in the house, so conflict is easily avoided with a little planning and consideration. You may shower or bath in the evening OR the morning, whatever is your custom, we can be flexible. Linens are included of course!

Laundry facilities are available and we can show you how to use them! You may change your bed linen weekly, we can show you where the bedding is kept.

Packed lunches are provided for you on school/work days and usually consist of sandwiches, yogurt, fruit or vegetable, cookies. If you like, you may have the remains of previous dinners, we often enjoy these 'leftovers'!
Meal time is a valued time in our home, we always strive to be together at dinner and usually succeed! We expect that when you are home, you will eat your meals with us and share some time talking about our days activities. Getting the family together to eat a meal is a great way to de-brief after a busy day and catch up on recent activities. Family meals not only offer time for talk and laughter, they provide a setting for so much more! If you will not be home, that's OK, but please give us notice so that we may plan accordingly!
Typically, we are home & all together 5 nights per week & available to help you with most homework when you need it. (Sometimes we are at activities in the evenings.) We can help to arrange private tutors for your English if you are a student.

We have hosted many short term international students in the past and have been a LONG term homestay family for eleven years. We really enjoy getting to know more about other cultures.
Our home is over 3000 square feet (340 square meters). Please click on the link to the right to view more photos.
Your furnished bright private room is about 10 X 12 feet. It has a closet, a bed, desk, dresser, lamp, night table, bulletin board & clock radio. (For more photos of the room you will stay in, just email us)
Wireless internet connection for your lap top is also available.
We can invite you to come on our trips & errands, but we understand that after a while in Canada, you will have your own friends and things to do also, so usually we don't expect you to come with us ALL the time.
On weekends, we usually get together with our extended families for dinner and a visit.

Smoking Rules

Your host is a non-smoker.

Smoking is not allowed.

How do I book?

Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.

When do I pay?

Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.

When can I share my contact details?

Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
