Hello - We are an English speaking Canadian-born family of 4 (married couple, 2 boys ages 16, 18 ); our older son is at University now. Also, living with us is Achel. Achel is a young Filipino lady that came to live with us in 2009 as a nanny to care for our boys when they were smaller. She is family and continues to live with us but now works full time at the Ottawa hospital. We also have one friendly Guinea pig. Our boys speak French and English.
We live in the west end of greater Ottawa in Kanata. Our home is in a quiet, safe, popular and beautiful treed neighbourhood (Beaverbrook) with many parks, schools, library, shopping, cinemas all within walking distance and easy bus transit making getting to schools and the Ottawa city center very easy. ESL high schools (Bell or Woodroffe HS) are a single bus ride to school from our home. Earl of March HS is ~700m walk. For Catholic schools - ESL school is Mother Teresa High School (bus transportation provided). Also, All Saints High School and Holy Trinity High School (both walking distance) are nearby (not ESL). Universities and colleges easily reached by public transportation. Our home is large (6 bedrooms, 4 bathroom) and has an in-ground pool for swimming in the summer. We have private accommodation for up to four Homestay guests. Our main level homestay room accommodation comes fully furnished with shared use of lower level bathroom (with homestay guests only). This large bedroom is very bright with large windows, single bed, clothes dresser, closet, desk and chair. The lower level homestay rooms (2) come fully furnished with single bed, clothes dresser, desk and chair. Also available on the lower level is a furnished living room space with TV shared with homestay. There is one additional bed room upstairs which has shared bathroom with Achel and Cameron only. The lower level has a 4 piece full bath adjacent to both homestay rooms. Wireless internet is provided. Our home is air conditioned. Laundry facilities are located on the lower level (in a separate and closed room away from the homestay rooms) and is shared. Meal (dinner daily) are included. Breakfast is self serve ($3 per day), lunch can be provided M-F made to go ($5 per day) and dinner is with the family. Meals are home cooked and varied in menu and style of cooking. No special diets please. Please contact me if you are interested in our accommodation and living with a friendly, easy going Canadian family. Airport/train pickup and drop is available ($35 one way). Our home is completely non-smoking. Our Homestay is a true Homestay - not just a place to stay but a real home with a real family that provides a home away from home. References for our homestay from previous homestay guests are available.

House Rules
Please keep our home secure and lock the front door when entering and leaving the house.
Remove your shoes at the front door.
Feel free to use the kitchen but please clean up after. We will give instruction.
Please enjoy your stay and treat our house as you would your own home!
Quiet after 11PM please. This is not a "party" house but it is a family home and we respectfully request that our guests do not return late from outings.
Please do not invite strangers into our home; if you would like to invite a friend over please check with us in advance.

Living with a family is very important for learning a new language cosntante.
Besides the family helped me with my pronunciation and were great people with me.
Gave me their help, giving me guidelines so I could carry from one place to another.
Every moment made me feel like part of your family.

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
