About the Homestay
We are a professional couple with two teenaged daughters and a very loving dog living at home. We have hosted homestay students since 2000 and enjoy sharing our culture and learning from others. Our 1929 character home is in a quiet, safe neighbourhood that is close to transit, downtown, Hastings Park and the beach. We enjoy gardening, cycling, cooking, volunteering and traveling. We are native English speakers, but we can get by in French and Spanish if needed. We are an LGBTQ-friendly Christian family who are family-centred, peaceful, and considerate. We welcome guests who are thoughtful and open to others.
During COVID-19, we are only accepting guests who have been in Canada for at least one month prior to arriving at our home.

About the Area
Our home is located in a quiet, safe neighbourhood in the northeast corner of Vancouver. We are a 5-minute walk to major transit lines and a 20-minute bus ride (or bike ride) to downtown, Simon Fraser University (SFU), Capilano University, BCIT or the mountains. It is a 5-minute walk to a free, world-class running track and outdoor sports facilities. We are a 15 min. walk to the beach or forested trails.

Hosts can offer a complimentary light breakfast at their discretion. All other meals, including a full breakfast, might incur an additional cost, if offered. Meals and any additional payment should be arranged directly with your host.

Only paying guests are allowed in our home. No smoking or drugs of any kind are allowed on the property. We do not drink more than a glass or two of wine and we expect you to use the same moderation. We keep the bathroom and house clean, but we expect you to clean your room. We also expect you to tidy up after yourself in shared areas of the house. If you stay more than two weeks, I may check your room monthly for general cleanliness. Our home is quiet from 10 pm to 7 am.
Smoking is not allowed.
Kirsten and her family were very kind and helped me feel comfortable during my stay at their home. The location is convenient (a bus stop + many stores within walking distance) and the neighborhood is beautiful. Highly recommend!

Kirsten and her family made me feel very welcome and at home. They where very helpful and gave advice on all the places to go. Their home is in a great location and has a beautiful view. Kirsten is also a fantastic cook. I really enjoyed my stay with them.
How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
