Friendly and hospitable family

We loved staying with Stella and Hugo!! When I decided to go on an adventure to practice Spanish with my 4.5 month old baby, I knew we would need to stay in a safe place with warm people just in case things went wrong. This homestay was so lovely and perfectly suited for our situation. Stella and Hugo are professional hosts who clearly enjoy welcoming people to their city. We went on outings, ate yummy food, and Stella even gifted my baby with a beautiful photo shoot! Plus, when I did end up needing medical attention, Stella helped me arrange a clinic visit and held my baby while I was there. I highly recommend this homestay ! Stella and Hugo are the kindest, most caring and helpful hosts you could ever have. My teenage son and I spent 8 days with Hugo and Stella while taking Spanish lessons in Medellin. Throughout our stay we were treated, and felt like, we were family. They were extremely helpful from the beginning to the end; arranging transportation from the airport to their home, getting me needed medical care, and giving recommendations for anything we asked about. Our lodging was impecable and the home is located in a very tranquil part of the city. There is easy access to local shops and eateries just a few blocks away. It is also a short walk to a beautiful mall with a ton of shops, restaurants and fast food options. I would not hesitate to stay with them again and give them my highest recommendation! If you are looking for an authentic experience with exemplary Colombian hospitality, warmth and kindness look no further.

Our time with Stella and Hugo was amazing. We stayed over christmas and were treated like family. We couldn't imagine a better homestay. They will help you with everything and are incredibly friendly. You will improve your Spanish a lot, cause they are talkactive. They neighborhood is very calm. We highly recommend to stay there. Someday we will come back. With more people like Stella and Hugo, the world would be such a better place.

I stayed with Stella and Hugo from March to June. The absolute BEST homestay I have ever been in. They were so incredibly patient, whether you are a beginner in Spanish or advanced.

Such a kind family as well. I was regularly invited to go do things out in their neighborhood, such as dinner at beautiful restaurants, going to the mall, or a museum. If you desire to be alone, that's never an issue and you will have your space. But if you are seeking to connect with a lovely family, look no further. They helped me out so much, teaching me where to get food, how to take the bus, how to use the ATM, etc.

Every morning they made arepas y huevos- I loved arepas so much that Stella taught me how to make my own! On my last day, she bought me corn flour and Arepas de Sonsón to bring back home with me to California.

This was truly my best experience of 2023. Stella and Hugo regularly had visitors- folks who had stayed with them prior- and I 100% understand why. Whenever I come back to Medellín, I know I have a family to visit. This was the healing experience I didn't know I needed.

Me quedé con Stella y Hugo de marzo a junio. La MEJOR casa de familia en la que he estado. Fueron increíblemente pacientes, ya seas principiante o avanzado en español.

Una familia tan amable también. Me invitaban regularmente a hacer cosas en su vecindario, como cenar en hermosos restaurantes, ir al centro comercial o a un museo. Si deseas estar solo, eso nunca será un problema y tendrás tu espacio. Pero si busca conectarse con una familia encantadora, no busque más. Me ayudaron mucho, me enseñaron dónde conseguir comida, cómo tomar el autobús, cómo usar el cajero automático, etc.

Todas las mañanas hacían arepas y huevos. ¡Me encantaban tanto las arepas que Stella me enseñó a hacer las mías! En mi último día, ella me compró harina de maíz y Arepas de Sonsón para llevarme a mi casa en California.

Esta fue realmente mi mejor experiencia de 2023. Stella y Hugo recibían visitas regularmente (personas que se quedaron con ellos antes) y entiendo al 100% por qué. Cada vez que vuelvo a Medellín, sé que tengo una familia que visitar. Esta fue la experiencia curativa que no sabía que necesitaba.

If you're looking for a perfect place to stay in Medellin while learning Spanish with a lovely family, look no further. I stayed with Stella and Hugo for 2 months and they were amazing. So helpful and supportive. They care so much about their guests and want to provide the best stay for those who stay with them. They took me to salsa events, taught me how to cook traditional Colombian food, and helped me practice Spanish. My Spanish improved so much due to Stella and Hugo. I could not recommend them more.
