The rooms were not like the pictures in the ad, but the room was spacious and had A.C. and a separate bathroom. It was a little confusing that the location of the room was different from the location of the published address of the advertising host. Apart from that, the woman in the house was nice, the room was clean and there was very little disturbance from the never-sleeping Habana people. Walking to central Habana Vieja is somewhat 15 - 20 minutes away, depending on where you like to go. Some taxis may cheat you. I agreed to pay 8 CUC and gave a bicycle-taxi 20 CUC (CUC = peso convertible = dollar). He gave me a 10-peso note of national money worth practically nothing, ran off, and did not stop when I called out. Preferably, give the driver the exact agreed amount on arrival.

Our stay at Aristides was great. It was only 2 blocks from the Old Havana Square and the 2 house attendants was excellent. They spoke no English and us no Spanish but somehow we managed to communicate ok. We had a continental breakfast each day that was too big to finish. The place is relatively new and is still getting it's finishing touches. We had a small issue with the the water mixer in the shower however the bathroom was modern and a actual ensuite unlike a lot of other Old Havana homestays. We would recommend this place to others.
