Host reply

Mayra and her husband were wonderful hosts. They treated us like family while we were there (calling the doctor when we fell sick) and were very helpful in explaining how to navigate Cuba. We were able to gain their advice on great accommodation in Trinidad, transportation to Vinales and Trinidad, places to eat in Havana, and other miscellaneous items like the conversion between CUP and CUC. Even though we had one fluent Spanish speaker in our group, we were able to converse in French as well. The rooms had clean sheets, moderately sized beds for two people, functioning A/C's and fans, and heated hot water. We were there in the summer months so it often still felt warm in spite of having the A/C's and fans on, but this was more likely due to the weather than the facilities.
Breakfast was simple but fresh and included fruits, bread, omelettes, and coffee. If you can go earlier than April, I'd recommend a visit in February when the weather is a bit cooler but definitely stay with Mayra - we can't thank her enough for taking such good care of us! It felt like home away from home.Host reply

We stayed at Mayra's house for some nights and it was absolutely amazing! Mayra gave us useful advice on what to do and where to go in Havana and before we left she helped us planning and organizing our trips to other Cuban cities.
If you are looking for a place where you can feel at home and get to know the loveliest hosts in Cuba you should stay in this house!

Une bonne adresse, on recommande !We spent 4 nights with Mayra. It was a very nice stay, and they are a charming couple.
Mayra really took the time to give us great advice and answer all of our questions. She was a bit like our Cuban mom!
Having breakfast in the patio was awesome and the homemade smoothie was delicious.
It was very convenient to be able to buy 1.5L bottles from her for a good price.
Her house has a good location: a short walk to some really good restaurants, taxis nearby and not too far from the city center.
Her house is sparkling clean ans and well kept.
We highly recommend it!Host reply

Mayra and her husband were amazing hosts. So incredibly kind and welcoming! We definitely had a language barrier but it was still such a lovely experience. Mayra booked us a tour in Viñales and booked us a ride to the airport. Both of those drivers were also friendly and made us feel so welcomed.
The location of their casa is perfect. El malecon is only 10 mins away walking. It's about 20 mins walking to old Havana and just a few blocks from the university. Revolution plaza is also in walking distance.
The room itself was great, with our own bathroom and AC. Breakfast was also great and such a perfect way to start our mornings. I wouldn't hesitate to book with Mayra the next time we are in Havana!
