Estuve por allá tres días , fue una gran experiencia lo que respecta a la casa muy bonita , los desayunos deliciosos y Marilyn una buena anfitriona. Lo que es cuba estuvo excelente todos los días soleados y una isla hermosa .
We got to the hotel and were greeted by Manuel who was fluent in English and informed us of the rules for the house. He was very helpful in advising us about places to go, and showed us to the bank.
Unfortunately, this was not enough in terms of our overall experience. The biggest issue we had was regarding entry to the premises.
We were explicitly informed that there was no curfew, as there was a 24hr concierge, so there would be no problem entering the premises at ANY time of day. This was the main reasoning behind why we were not allowed a key of our own.
Manuel was also VERY vocal about the prohibition against bringing non-guests back to the hotel. It was never our intention to anyway, but he repeated it enough times that truthfully, it would have been more appropriate to include this in the online rules (or at least make this clear before the booking process), so that guests can decide what suits them best before booking.
This lack of notification was especially problematic, regarding the issuing of keys.
Myself and 4 other residents had to wait outside at approximately 2am (for over an hour) after repeated knocking and ringing the bell, to no avail. Nobody answered the door to us. We eventually got in after a very long-winded process of calling a person unrelated to the property who just happened to have the correct number for the owners (we had been given an incorrect number). And that itself was pure chance, as only one of the people in our group could speak Spanish. If not for her, we would have been outside all night.
No apology was given when we were finally allowed back in. The lack of 24hr concierge service alone (or key) would have been enough for us to not stay there, had we been informed beforehand.
Whilst the room was nicely furnished, it had very little space for 3 people to stay in (especially with luggage). We had a room that was split into top and bottom level. The room smelt slightly mouldy and we didn't have hot water the first night.
Given the choice, I'm afraid we would not stay there again.
I'm crazy late doing this review please forgive me marilyn.
I stayed there for my birthday back in January 22-24. Marilyn is a great host. She doesn't speak good English but there are interpreters in the house. I stayed in room in the picture. It was very clean and pretty. There is always someone in the house to help you around. Beware of mama!! Lmao I came in real late and since mama never seen me when I came in to check in she wouldn't let me in the house until I showed her my room key. Needless to say I stayed in the rest of the night. I felt like I was grounded LMAO. No seriously wonderful host and I will return soon. Viva cuba!
Three of us stayed with Marilyn and her husband that speaks good English for almost a week. The room and home was very clean. The rooms are not big but had a private bath, great AC and small fridge. The big 5.00 breakfast came with seemed like unlimited fruit, juices, breads, eggs, ham, cheese and coffee. They are in walking distance (4 blocks) from the Malecon, and the University, taxis are a half block that will take you to the Park Central or anywhere, 3 blocks from the big hotel where you can buy an internet card for 4.50 an hr. to check emails. I highly recommend this Casa Particular, if you are elderly or overweight you might specify having the bathroom downstairs, that was the only thing I would specify next time but will return here again.
Perfect service, nice people, good breakfast. Helped out with umbrella for the rain. Good experience and lovely talks also with guests form other countries. Transfer from the airport with a real oldtimer from '55.
Stayed there for about one week. People are nice and helpful. The place itself (a little and clean maison with bathroom downstairs and sleepingroom upstairs) is located rather close to the rampa area. To get a collectible (collectiv taxi for about 40 cent!) to go to havanna vieja f.e. you have to move just around the corner.
I`m a person rather sensitive to noise (and havanna is a noisy place!) and therefore i always have my adjusted airplugs with me :) breakfast is comprehensiv and good! that`s not unimportant in a place like havanna, where it`s not like in europe, where you leave your hotel or pension and enter a nice breakfast place just around the corner. Manuel, the husband of marilin speaks english very well. I can`t say if marilin speaks any english for i used to speak spanish with her.
All in all a good place to stay for some days.
