It was our first visit to Kuba and for the first time in this tip of accommodation. It was the right choice. Eva and her family are the great hosts, lovely people. Room is so comfortable, as well as bathroom. And sooo clean. But, the view from the balcony, absolutely gorgeous.
Eva and her husband Felix are trying to make your holiday even more better, helping you with good ideas, giving you a best tips, answering your hundred questions . Kids are so good and polite. We are so happy to find a new friends! Thank you for everything Eva and family and see you soon
Eva has been a wonderful host, always ready to help you with any queries. Her house is located in the beautiful and safe area of Verano, where you can enjoy the nightlife without any problem. There is plenty of bars, restaurants, clubs and hotels. However Eva's house is very nice, with a breathtaking view of Havana city and the coast. The room and bathroom are nice and clean and the size is perfect for a couple; also there is a safe in the room. It's been a pleasure to meet and live with Eva and her family! I'd love to come back again to visit them! Thank you Eva!
I had a fantastic time staying at Casa Eva! She is an amazing host with a lovely family and a beautiful home. This was my second time staying with her, and she is as fantastic a conversationalist as I remembered. But last time I did not get to enjoy her cooking. This time, breakfast was included in the price, and she made it so well worth it. Every morning I was served eggs to my taste (omelette), fruit, bread, juice, and a hot beverage - there would have been ham too, but I do not eat meat. It was an expansive and delicious breakfast that kept me going all day. One morning Eva had a doctor's appointment and her husband cooked served just an excellent a meal.
Eva's apartment is in an excellent location. It is just a few blocks away from all of the activity on Calle 23; it is also up the hill on Avenida de los Presidentes (aka Calle G) from my favorite place in the world to people watch - the Malecon; and there are several tasty restaurants within a block or two of Casa Eva. Taxis are easily accessible on Ave Presidentes. You can even get wifi nearby on the corner of 21/G (Ave Presidentes) - just ask Eva. Of course if you'd like to check wifi while sipping on a beverage, you can head down to Hotel Presidentes.
Beyond her friendliness and conversation, I love that Casa Eva has all of the amenities of a hotel, including a well-stocked mini-fridge, an iron, a hair dryer, and toiletries. And since I was there in the humid heat of summer, the lovely AC and the perfectly warm shower were put to frequent use! More than that, however, my favorite part of Eva's house is catching a breeze while reading on the balcony.
While the family gives you all the privacy you could ask for, some of my best memories at the house this visit was talking in English with her older son, playing music from my phone for both of the boys, and watching World Cup soccer/football with the family. I was never particularly a fan (sorry, all - I'm from the U.S.!). but their enthusiasm was so contagious that I'm proud to say I kept up with the semi-final and final rounds after returning home.
We had a great time at Eva's home! She is the best hostess in Havana!
The rooms were very clean and comfortable, the breakfast and the dinner were delicious and the hole family was very sociable and helpful.
They made us feel home! Congrats!
Thank you Eva and Felix for your welcoming us in your wonderful home! Everything was perfect from your tips, the room and the lovely neighbourhood!!
I have been traveling to Cuba since the late 1990s and have a lot of experience staying in casas particulares (private home room rentals) over the decades. Eva was an extraordinary hostess who made me feel at home. Her husband and sons were less visible but just as helpful and friendly when you caught a glimpse of them. The family tended to dwell in their side of the house, and the guest has access to the other half. When I was in the house, I spent most of my time sitting on the fabulous veranda with a view of the Malecon not far in the distance and catching a breeze. Eva and I spent hours just talking -- I had to force myself to leave the house, I was so comfortable there! Again, having been to Havana countless times, I've seen pretty much all of the sites but I love meeting new people!
Nonetheless, Eva's house is centrally located in Vedado -- just a few short blocks from Calle 23 (the main street in Vedado with lots of restaurants and sites to see), as well as half a block from Avenida de los Presidentes which is another central artery that runs straight into the Malecon. Both roads provide easy access to taxis to ride to other parts of the city. There are also several wifi hotspots nearby, including at the Hotel Presidente and Casa de las Americas at the bottom of Avenida Presidentes.
There are several tasty and affordable restaurants in a stone's throw from Eva's house, including Idalia one block away (delicious but kind of pricey), Havana Blues around the corner (affordable and delicious!), and Dulce Habana (good prices and good food located 4 blocks away - I went twice for the daiquiris!). I also frequented several cheap places to eat in national currency within a few blocks of Eva's house.
I had a wonderful time staying at Casa Eva - she is one of the most gracious hostesses I have encountered and I will certainly stay there again when I am in Havana. Gracias y abrazos Eva!
