About the Homestay
I am the owner of this guest house with my wife, I have 2 granddaughters of 6 and 2 years old and I would like to be able to interact with the clients and exchange ideas about the knowledge that I have of different topics since I have 42 years of experience as Professor so I have mastery of Geography, History, Literature, Agronomy and Natural Medicine where I have participated in international events on Permaculture and Agroecology. This house is simple, it has no luxuries our luxury is in our good heart. This house is located in a field area just 10 minutes walk from the center where it is in direct contact with nature, it is a quiet place to vacation and has access to Wi-Fi.
I have a private Finca (Finca la Chiquitica) located just 500 meters from the house of income which provides most of the products of alimantacion in the home, standing out among them Mango (in different varieties), Orange, Lemons, Tangerines , Pineapple, Platanos (in different varieties), Coconut Guavas with a delicious water among others, besides guaranteeing the Coffee that is consumed in the home throughout the year. We can also find in the farm Habichuelas, Cucumber, Chard, Rabano, Tomatoes, Avocados (depending on the time of year.) There are different varieties of medicinal plants having extensive knowledge on the subject. I also have a mini-industry for the conservation of Mango and Guava which allows all my guests to enjoy natural juices without any chemical product, since everything is agroecological, Permaculture and Agroecology have been carried out for many years. In this farm, as I am a teacher, study practices are carried out for children and young people in the community to whom I teach them. Our farm has received delegations from universities in Canada, Norway and Venezuela. This is a cozy place where a pleasant and healthy stay is guaranteed. We love and protect Nature I am one of the things without which I could not live, my Family, my Books, my Students and Permaculture are the perfect complement for my life.
At home they will feel like family, I am a host that helps guests in the organization of their activities and are served in an exemplary manner.

The rules in the house are simple, we demand respect since it is part of the education and so there will be a good communication between the client and the family members. We are a quiet family and we do not smoke so we demand that inside the room we do not smoke, if they can do it in the exterior of the house.
Smoking is allowed outdoors only.
We were accommodated in the house of the neighbors of Miguel, Yamila and Chino, who delighted us with good, varied and generous breakfasts and dinners. Chino took us for a nice walk in the countryside around his house and Miguel showed us his large garden used for permaculture. Very interesting good times with charming people.
Miguel, Yancy and their whole family are amazing! We enjoyed our time at there place. I would recommend eating breakfast and dinner there is you can. Super good food. Miguel and Yancy hooked us up with horseback riding, a tour to the best places in Vinales and a tour of Miguel's amazing permaculture farm. Don't hesitate! Book now.
The welcome the family gave me was warm and made me feel happy. I felt happy the whole time I stayed with this wonderful family and I will be forever grateful for the care and affection I received so generously from them.
The place provides all that’s necessary and it feels very friendly. The porch is the best: like many visitors before me, I enjoyed sitting there in those comfortable chairs watching the neighbors go by on foot, horse carriage, bicycle, moped, or car. The chickens and roosters, cats and dogs of the neighborhood, which were out and about, also added a certain charm to this little dirt road going by the house. It is close enough to the town center that one can easily walk there or one can catch a ride with one of the caballeros driving by with their horse-pulled carriages (lots of fun!!!!).
The food and coffee were excellent. The meat, vegetables and coffee I was given by my hosts were grown on Miguel’s farm. The best coffee EVER!!! Also, I much enjoyed the tours Miguel gave me. His farm is wonderful. And he took me to two other organic farms. I much appreciate his passion for organic farming....and the time he took to have conversations about all kinds of topics. It was challenging to do so because of the language barrier...but we made it work.
This family is graciously doing all they can to make their guests feel good: arranging taxi rides, feeding them well, providing drinking water, and sharing the time it takes to get to know one another. I highly recommend a stay at Casa Campo El Permacultor.
Thanks so much, Miguel and family. I will be back!
With much appreciation,
We are very kindly received by Miguel's family. Had a good stay with them in Vinales. Although they hardly speak English (the daughter does), they always help when you ask them something. A nice place, close to the center of Vinales. Definitely recommended to stay with them.
Exactly as described, Professor Miguel and his family are wonderful hosts. Our daughter was a little sick on the trip and they couldn’t have been more helpful or understanding. A retired maths teacher, Miguel is very informative and easy going. Couldn’t have been happier.
We stayed at Miguel’s place for a few nights in Viñales. Yamila and Chino were wonderful hosts. They were very helpful, sweet, and gracious hosts. The space is cozy and a close walk to downtown. Yancy, Miguel’s daughter, was very helpful. She even arranged taxi rides for us to and from Palma Rubia and back to Havana. The food, family, and stay in Viñales was our favorite during our trip to Cuba.
Our stay in Viñales with Miguel has been really memorable. We loved every minute of it and we would definitely recommend this casa to everybody. Miguel and his family gave us a really warm welcome and after two days we felt like members of their family. They are also very helpful with planning activities. Miguel is super passionate about permaculture and his land and this is really interesting. Also we liked the food we had. For breakfast and dinner we always had way too many food. A big thanks to Miguel and his family! Greetings from Belgium!
Excellent hospitality by Miguel & his family. Very clean space. Amazing organic farm visit plus horse cart ride.
Miguel and his family were very kind and welcoming. Their home is a short walk from the town, on a quiet road (aside from the roaming chickens and men on horse back going to and fro!) which made for an ideal setting to relax on the rocking chairs on the porch. The family arranged for us to spend the morning horseback riding with one of their neighbours and this was a definite highlight of our time in lovely Vinales. The food in their home was plentiful and prepared with much love and care. We would definitely recommend a stay here - just remember the mosquito spray in this neck of the woods :)
