Before I write a review I’d like to give some general information that may prove useful when visiting Cuba.
If your a light sleeper earplugs- ear defenders are a must as rooms may contain small refrigerators. windows and doors
May be of a ventilating-Venetian blind system so allow street noise in.
Bottled water can prove difficult to obtain in the street so we found it easier to purchase it from our casas
or from bars/restaurants.
All of our Homestay hosts proved to be a fantastic source of information on restaurants/ bars excursions -taxis etc.
I hope you find this general information useful.
My Wife and I had the great pleasure of staying at this Casa (Dr Niurka) in Vinales.( jan 2020)
The house is a short 3-4 min walk from the Village centre in a quiet back street.
The room was simple but very clean and comfortable. The shower was probably the best we experienced in Cuba… HOT and powerful.
Breakfast ( An extra 5CUC per person) was fresh, delicious and so plentiful that we were able to make a small lunch / picnic box with the leftovers.
English was limited but my wife had no problems communicating with the hosts..
I as a Spanish speaker had many a chat with the host family and neighbours.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this Casa.
Ken and Keiko.
We spent 3 nights in the house and had a great time their: the breakfast was excellent with fresh fruits and juice, sandwiches and little cakes. The last morning when we had to leave very early, they packed us sandwiches, muffins and juice in a bag for a snack on our bustrip.
The room very clean, had much space for our staff and two comfortable beds. They were always very engaged and tried to help us best.
The only thing we can critisice is an unlikely in the bathroom even if the shower was very very nice!
Nous avons passé un très bon moment dans cette casa, le petit déjeuner est très copieux et Niurka a la bonne idée de proposer des lunchs boxes
Merci pour ce chaleureux accueil
Nice room, a bit small but clean. Very nice shower! The owner is very sweet and helpful, although her English was not very good, she really tried. Breakfast was great (and too much!!). Location is great, only a bit hard to find but close to everything.
This was definitely the best casa particular we stayed during our trip to Cuba. It's less than 5 minutes walk to the main square in Vinales. The room and the bathroom were very clean and the beds were comfortable. There is a lovely roof terrace with views over the Mogotes which is great for relaxing and watching the sunset. Niurka is an amazing host. We had breakfast at the casa for 5 CUC per person and it was the best breakfast we had during our whole trip in Cuba. It was a good spread of fresh fruit, pancakes, ham and cheese sandwiches, cakes, pastries, flan, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and fresh fruit juice. Niurka also gave us lunch boxes to take away the leftover breakfast with us, which was really handy when we went horse riding and hiking. We had a great stay at the house and can highly recommend this place.
Nice breakfast, friendly people and a great location.
We never got to meet niurka because our flight was cancelled from baracoa to Havana. Maybe in the future better luck
Excellent! Location is great and near everything. Private room with an area to relax with friendly neighbours / talking parrots. Breakfast was great and a substantial amount of food
