Host and Guest Verification

The verification feature is in place to give peace of mind to guests when selecting hosts to stay with. It also provides more information to our hosts to help decide which guests to accept. Once you go through the easy-peasy verification process, you get a nifty little badge on your host or guest profile that lets others know that you are who you say you are. Hurray!

How do I get verified?

Once you’ve logged in, click on your profile on the top right corner, then click on the Verify Me tab and follow the really simple instructions. Becoming fully verified is a three step process:

  • Verify your email address by following the confirmation link we send you
  • Verify your phone number via a confirmation code sent to your mobile
  • Verify your ID by taking a photo or uploading an image of your passport, drivers licence or national ID card

What format should my image upload be in?

If you’re scanning and uploading an image of your ID, make sure the file type is either JPEG or PNG. PDFs won’t be accepted. If you have a PDF version and can’t convert it, just pop it over to us in an email and we’ll convert it and upload it for you.

What forms of ID documentation are accepted?

Any Government issued ID is accepted: a passport, driver’s license or a national ID card, if your country provides those handy little things.

The picture I’m taking with my webcam isn’t being accepted, why?

The usual reasons for this are that the photo is blurry or the full ID isn’t entirely in the shot. Be sure to hold the ID nice and steady and in such a way that all of the document is visible, and the details are legible.
