I built my 24 meter barge in the style of a 1920's style dutch barge, and sailed it to the south of france. When I found this lovely spot in the port of Aigues-Mortes, I turned the engines off., and that was fifteen years ago now! Although I am retired, I am a people person, and I love having visitors share my very special ship with me. I liveaboard with 6 year old female border collie and a parrot. All rescues, and occasionally grateful for their good fortune. We are at the south westerly end of the port (in the Route du Mole google sometimes call it La Rayette but they are wrong). FREE parking next to the peniche. We have magnificent views of the medieval ramparts across the old turning basin. Alongside us there is the national park. There is abundant wild life all around like Pink Flamingos, White Camargue horses and fish just waiting to be caught. You can't swim off our decks due to busy commercial barge movements but some of the finest beaches in europe are just a fifteen minute bike ride away. It gets hot in the summer, but your cabin is airconditionsd for your comfort. Our kitchen galley is small and cluttered (I would say!), but delicious meals can be prepared there. There is also an outdoor "kitchen" reserved exclusively for our guests. Plancha, friteuse and an oven/rotisserie. Part of the wheelhouse is also reserved for guests. The other part is filled with equipment for ship maintenance. I built the barge and I keep prices down by maintaining it. It still cost over one million euros to build. We are only a 12 minute walk from the centre of beautiful Aigues-Mortes.

About the Area

Apart from the fact Google calls the Route du Mole, La Rayette, and the spit of land has long been removed...before I arrived in 2005 anyway! We can be spotted here as my Blue Landrover is parked beside the Saul Nomad. The road and the fence has changed radically, as having been designated "un Grande site de France", Euromillions have been spent in 2014 tarting up the fence and the road, which now gives cyclists and pedestrians priority on a superb ride past the Flamingo Lagoons to the small fishing port and resort of Grau du Rois.

House Rules

I take a very relaxed view about my visitors. If you don't break the law, and don't behave in a manner that you could hurt yourself, and don't annoy the neighbouring boats, it will be fine. The Captain does not conduct marriages, even if the setting is romantic...just joking!

Smoking Rules

Your host is a non-smoker.

Smoking is allowed outdoors only.

How do I book?

Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.

When do I pay?

Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.

When can I share my contact details?

Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
