Warm and hospitable stay in a 1870 town house with its own garden, located in a private condominium and in a quiet and safest neighbourhood within Paris intramuros.
Used to hosting international travellers, foreign students or just citizens of the world (except French ones) , I greatly enjoy helping them discover the city for a full immersion in French culture and habits according to their areas of interest.
For those learning or improving their knowledge of the language, I provide French lessons on a daily basis, prices to be negotiated according to level and frequency.
I am French, retired, speak fluent English, understand Spanish and a little German, but above all, I am an unconditional green and pet lover .

The newly refurbished bedroom occupies the whole 2nd floor of the house and grants a complete privacy - ideal for those who want to study or work in a quiet environment, when not simply rest after a full day wandering throughout the city. The WIFI connection is excellent in the room. The shower is private but not on the same floor as the bedroom. Sheets, towels and a bath gown are provided every week. A hairdryer is also available. Laundry and cleaning on a weekly basis.

The room fee includes access to the kitchen to prepare breakfast and fix a quick meal in the evening.

During Spring and Summer time, the shady garden is a perfect place for a cup of tea or a drink at the end of the day if you are not tempted by the pub or the bistrot across the street.

The minimum stay is 4 nights. For students on a long term stay (from 2 to 6 months), a preferential rate is granted according to the duration of the stay.

Please note that there is a spare bed in the room which can be used for a short period (not more than a week) to welcome a family member or a friend (30 €/night).

Additional Info

Please note that because of its location on the 2nd floor and the shower not being ensuite, this homestay does not suit elderly guests or anyone with knee or leg problem.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Laura during my stay. I had the chance to take a semester in France and was absolutely delighted to have met her. She was an immense help to both my learning of the French language and the culture itself. She made it a point to speak as much french as she could as well showing me famous french movies or shows that allowed me to deep even diver into France. I recommend her with happiness and hope that you will have a similarly good time as I did.

Chez Laura is a homey place to stay. I enjoyed the location due to its easy access (within a ten minute walk) to two metro lines. The cafe across the street became my favorite hangout. Two blocks down from the house is a local park where I enjoyed picnics. The neighborhood is quiet and safe - a nice way to end a day spent among other tourists in the other districts. Laura will make sure you have everything you need.

I enjoyed my stay very much! Laura is very helpful and adjusts very well to specific needs. She was very attentive to make my stay as if I was at home. I got to also plan and adjust some time to take her French lessons. The location is great, safe, and 30 minutes walk to the Eiffel tower which I loved because I was able to enjoy walks with pretty views. Definitely will stay again!

I had a great time at Laura’s! I had originally asked for her time and effort to help me speak French and learn more about the culture, and she didn’t disappoint. I really felt like a friend, we had a lot of conversation spanning many things and I learned so much about the cultural aspects of the language, country, and its film in ways that I had no idea about before.

The location was wonderful and the room very comfortable. My only regret is I didn’t have time to stay longer!

As the other reviews have stated, Laura is the perfect host. I stayed for 2.5 weeks in June and truly had an amazing trip.
I did French lessons every weekday with Laura. To begin with, my French was slightly rusty, but she was more than happy to go over and explain anything I was unsure of. She is a highly thoughtful and attentive teacher, selecting materials on topics I was interested in like politics and history. She even went out of her way to collect political pamphlets during the Legislative Elections for me to study, just one example which encapsulates how considerate and proactive she is. Through the use of videos, texts, radio, and conversing, my French massively improved throughout my stay and I have been inspired to continue learning since. Laura’s knowledge of French and English is perfect and thus she can tailor lessons to whatever your ability and interest are.
I really cannot recommend staying with Laura enough. Not only was she an amazing teacher from whom I learnt so much, but she was also an exceptionally kind and caring host. I am eternally grateful to her for making my stay in Paris so brilliant and I look forward to returning in the future.

Large open plan townhouse on several levels with garden. Great place especially for first time visitors to Paris who need a little hand holding and advice on what to see and where to go as Laura is always willing to go above and beyond for her guests with wonderful tips and suggestions. She adores speaking English with her guests; she is perfectly bilingual. In fact when I met her I thought she might be British, it’s that good. A great place for dog lovers too as she has three cute well behaved ones. if you are not a dog lover, no worries, they will never come to your room as they are not allowed and the steps are too steep. Her « secret garden » is truly magnificent! I would not recommend this for anyone who cannot do several flights of stairs very easily or for anyone who ordinarily makes a nightly trip to the loo :-) so probably not the best for most seniors. A unique experience in a very special place I will surely never forget.

Laura is an amazing host, and her home is beautiful! She cares so well for her guests and truly wants to make sure you feel at home. She was so helpful in providing me with suggestions of sites to visit, places to eat, and general advice for my stay. Her home is also in a great location for exploring different parts of the city. I was able to take French classes with her and share some evenings watching French movies, which helped my learning and was such fun. She has amazing life stories to share, is a wonderful cook, and her chihuahuas are absolutely adorable. I would definitely recommend staying at her home if you have the chance!
