About the Homestay
I'm the second generation of my family in this 1934 built Bauhaus Villa in the middle of an ecological garden about 15 minutes away with public bus ride from city center, in the most respected part of the Buda side, with beautiful panorama of the whole historic heritage o f old Buda part: the King's castle and the Citadella on the Gellért hill. There is mostly no traffic in the small street where you always can find a free parking place for your car free of charge. I am a native of Budapest and enjoy hosting visitors because interesting conversations we have about my country, travelling, politics, and the arts. I have lived in my house since I was born and have resided in the neighborhood longer than any other current resident. I enjoy keeping the house in the form of its original construction and care for my garden using organic methods. I grow many fruits, vegetables, and herbs in my garden including cherries, pears, straw berries, raspberries, figs, walnuts, tomatoes and much more. I like to cook and prepare special meals with my produce, many of my own creation.
I am now retired, and I go often to concerts, exhibitions, and cultural, artistic and political events. I love music (jazz, rock, folk, world, classical), literature, history, and I'm interested in technology, sports, science, economics, politics, and the arts. I come from a family of artists and many of their works decorate my home.
I like to travel, so I'm not always home. The Balkan countries are my favorite. I wrote a guidebook about Montenegro and have traveled throughout the region for many years. I worked as a tour program organizer for much of my professional life and can give you good suggestions on what to see in Budapest, Hungary, and the entire region.
I speak the Hungarian, English, German, Russian and Serbo-Croatian languages.
I have hosted hundreds of visitors from all over the world over the last five years.

Consigliatisimo, ci ritornero.
The house is far away from any points of the town. The room and the house was dirty and smelled. After the first night ( since I can not sleep at all) moved to other place. I tried to ask for discount but the owner asked for the full amount. The room you get is open and can not be closed so anyone can walk in at any time. I would never ever stay in this place at all.
Nice house and area with good bus connections to the busy urban center. We had very interesting talks with Mihály about a large variety of topics.
Thanks Mihaly for your hospitality, hope to see you again, maybe on my motorcycle next time!
All the best from M,J&J.
This guest awarded the host 5 hearts but didn’t leave any comments.
DON’T GO THERE!!! IT’S FILTHY AND COLD EVEN IN WARM WEATHER!! I booked and paid for a week stay in the small room. The room and bathroom were very cold and very dirty. I left after one night stay. I found a clean and warm accommodation for similar price. The host of course didn’t refund me any money. It’s impossible to talk and reason with him. DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ AND SEE IN THE DESCRIPTION!!! THERE ARE MANY LIES! For example he states: “Feel free to use the kitchen“ but then he hardly has any space for guests’ stuff in the fridge and he makes it out like it’s a privilege or extra favour from him to let you use the kitchen. Then don’t state the free use of it in the description as it is misleading. He offered some help with directions, which I didn't ask for, but he just carried on and I listened politely, then later he made it out like I was robbing his time. He asked what was most important to me in an accommodation, but wasn’t really interested as he cut in and started to tell me long personal stories, which I listened to patiently and politely, then I had to go so had no chance to emphasise that cleanliness and warmth were also very important to me, so when I told him why I was leaving he said I didn’t say these were important and he became very offensive and rude. I was never treated like this in any past accommodation and I’ve been to loads as I travel a lot. I stayed in many simple accommodations and they were always clean. Mihály has no idea how to be a good host.
No breakfast. I have been in many homestay places in many several countries...First time!!! Why?
(For us , Chilean people, breakfast means the welcome to a new day and we celebrate by having a good hot breakfast with our guests !! So we appreciate it a lot! It means we are welcomed!!
And it was not offered even it is part of the deal we did with homestay...
Shower not available when wanted, I had to tell the host to warm water for me...
Sad place and people...a lot.
Too money-driven people...
....not a good experience....but I learnt a lot about human beings.

Rather disappointing. Some half hour from town centre; facilities lacked even a kettle to make a hot drink and nowhere to eat nearby. We had a rather miserable, hungry first night and left in the morning, having found rooms in the town for a similar price.
I had a very nice experience staying at Mihaly s house. Is a beautiful house and he is a very special person, full of stories and interesting things to talck about. He was very helpful, telling me and explaining me about the places I should visit in the city. Having his advices was a wonderful help to face Budapest with a different perspective. I am very happy and thankfuk about this experience.
