About the Area

I am Jessy Mathew aka The Fat Fanny. This is my second venture into hospitality.

I never shy away from learning and experimenting, and constantly pick up something new. You could learn more about me and my family when we meet at our homestay venture, The Quarter Crowd.

The Colonial Quarters is a cottage built by our dad - the late P.P. Paul (01-01-1910 to 30-01-1985) - may his soul rest in peace, one of the pioneers of Neo-Cochin shipping industry. Infact most of the house infra was supplied by his lathe shop - St. Pauls Marines.

All the main attractions at Fort Kochi are ten minutes of cycling distance away from our cottage. You can enjoy the heritage walks and come home to tranquility. We will send you back with lots of warmth and interesting stories.

You can chose the welcome you want, from The Fat Fanny squad of 4 (read badass) sisters who are all fat and old, and can pamper you with a lot of motherly love, if you are nice to us, we can be very resourceful as well. Or if you are pet friendly, from the Sweetest Squad, lead by 'Friday' our furball and mascot for the colonial quarters..... and enjoy some sweet cuddles and keep your priorities in check by constantly making sure she get a tummy rub....

Both Friday and the Fat Fannys are pretty non intrusive, and will respect your personal space at all times, it is ok to hang out with yourself or with your friends/companions itself. If you would like to spend some time with us, please do let us know in advance, as we live in a seperate house and you would get your privacy anyways...This just to ensure our availability as we would be busy with our chores of watching latest movies, buying fish and a lot of local household Gossip.... or fretting on the making the home made wine this christmas - i guess, this is what you call as catching up with age - 'Gracefully' - if one might add.

If you want to bring along your old people, please do that, we could enjoy some good old discussions in our portigue as well.... We could learn from them, and probably share some tips of 'Living it Up' in the Kochi style of things.

The house is in a private housing colony (like a gated community) in a serene area, away from the hustles of Fort Kochi and Mattancherri, yet near enough to hop onto a bus/auto to go sightseeing. For any recommendation you need from shopping to eating out to must-see tourist attractions, come over and talk to us.
