An OASIS of PEACE within the fast pace and thriving activity of one off Mumbai's suburban areas. Eight comfortable nights well spent before hitting Mumbai central. We were made very welcome with a delicious Sunday dinner and enjoying an 'indian summer''s drink surrounded by feeric garden lights, setting the mood of our eastern promise and adventures. Pearl and Shashi gave us invaluable advice and knowledge from which we acted on gratefully. We were a little disappointed with the English breakfast, maybe because we are French!! And knew that an Indian cuppa "chai" tea would beat instant coffee any time. We would have welcomed more chai tea to see us through the day particularly in the evening. Nonetheless, a pleasant and excellent stay we recommend for anyone who wishes to steer away from the formality of hotels or conventional B&Bs. Warm wishes for 2019, from Chantal and Arlette

Lovely Mumbai experience, thanks to that wonderful host....the nice Holi dinner, and I will be forever grateful Mr Shashi getting up at 4 am to call a taxi for me! Thanks so much! Did I mention the comfortable and very clean air con room? Definitely THE place to stay in Mumbai, don't even consider a hotel!

Shashi and Pearl were great hosts to stay with. Not only were they very kind an helpful when I got in much later than expected, but they gave me excellent ideas about what to spend my one day in Mumbai doing, and how to get from here to there. They are world travelers themselves, so if you stay with Shashi and Pearl make sure to ask them about their adventures and share a few of your own!

Pearl and Shashi have a lovely home and garden and I thoroughly recommend their homestay which is accurately described and exceeded my expectations. The many excellent reviews speak to their interest in making their guests feel comfortable and "at home". The bed was nice and firm, the a/c worked if needed, shower and bathroom were clean and fully functional and there are a lot of features (like plenty of filtered and boiled drinking water and a small safe for your passport and cash) that you might not expect in a homestay. If you are independent travelers who value the experience of meeting local people, chatting with them, and observing their way of life this is a perfect situation. Pearl and Shashi are a hard working professional couple with a schedule so they are not always available but there was always someone on hand. The house has good security and the neighborhood felt very safe to me (usual caveats for single women at night). I even met some of the host's friends. Mumbai was a challenging city to visit as a foreign tourist but this lovely couple (and Uber) make it a lot easier to visit! Highly recommended.

Pearl and Shashi are, in our view, superb hosts. They were gentle and
very attentive to our needs. - Even needs we didn't realize that we
had.The property is a lush oasis, secluded from the busy city streets, and
our room correlated highly to our expectations. It was an entirely
positive experience to stay here (for several weeks). As conversational partners the hosts are knowledgeable and easy to
talk to about both tourist-related and personal matters. We spent many
hours in their company. Our stay at - and time spent with Perl and Sashi benefited our 3
months stay in India greatly. We received far more information and
enjoyment than we had planned and hoped for.For our part the stay at the home of these great people was a safe
haven on our journey to India. It has been a memorable and wonderful
time.Karsten and Wenche Brundtland

My stay with Shashi and Pearl was just amazing. They are a wonderful, friendly and warmhearted couple and always there if you need any help. They suggested places to go and how you can go there. You get a good and light breakfast in the morning, means whenever you are up :-) They never set any time limits to this. Just in the evening they were very concerned about to be back on time, also because of safety issues for a single woman traveling in Mumbai... On Friday evenings we were just sitting in the wonderful garden which is outside the building and Shashi & Pearl showed again their great hospitality. Sitting with them in their garden, having chilled drinks and a nice chat going on is probably the best experience you can get during a homestay. Though it was my first experience ever in Homestay I was very thankful that I was able to stay with them. And whenever I will come back to my beloved Mumbai I will be back on homestay with Shashi and Pearl. And Mom. <3 Thank you again for making my stay in India an unforgettable journey, I'm happy that I met you both and hopefully it won't be the last time. Please keep up your wonderful house and homestay experience for many many more people to come and wherever you will be one day your house will always be my favorite homestay in India!
Oh and by the way, I extended my stay with them from 1 to 2 weeks :-D Guys, it's absolutely worth the time/money/experience staying with them!

Great place to stay, and everything you need in the area. Shashi and Pearl are wonderful hosts, and very helpful on how to get around and what to do, as well as giving you space to do your own thing. For me, so much better than a hotel.

We had a most wonderful time in Mumbai at the homestay of Pearl and Shashi. The room was great and the breakfast and service was wonderful. Pearl and Shashi really go out of their way to make their guests feel at home and are very helpful when it comes to planning what to do and see in Mumbai. The location of the homestay is great as it is not in the busiest, tourist areas of the city. We felt very safe walking around in the area exploring. Communications with rickshaws and the train are excellent and are both great ways to get around. It was our first experience with homestay and we loved it! Having the chance to get an insight into the everyday life of locals is so special and very interesting. We especially enjoyed the family dinner, a home cooked indian meal which was delicious.
