I live alone in a 2 bedroomed ground floor apartment in a new eco village attached to a local village in the centre of rural Ireland. The apartment is open plan looking out through french doors on to the market square facing south east...so getting sun for most of the day. A stream separates the apartments from the pedestrian way along the side of the square. I moved here 2 years ago from dublin and am very happy living here. ......amongst a very friendly community....and trying to live as eco friendly as possible.
I myself work part time as a nurse and am also involved with a Project in Africa where I spent 10 years. There is always plenty to do if both day and night. We have a community farm attached to the village and anybody is
welcome to give a hand on the farm . There is a woods nearby with several walks and bicycle routes all around the area. The big lake of Lough Derg is about 20 klms away with all sorts of water sports.
For night life we have Music in the pubs, Community shared meals, Dances,Talks, Games Nights in the local bookstore/ Cafe and festivals at certain times. ...so no shortage of things to do, events to attend if desired.
This is a mixed community with single people and families and plenty of children who live a happy carefree life.
In the local village...2 mins walk away we have 4 pubs, a restaurant, a booksho/cafe, A makery ( craft making and courses )with a cafe, a Library, 2 supermarkets, Artists studios, a heritage centre, Post office etc.
The landscape is fertile farmland with a few Bogs here and there and also stud farms. One of my favourite things about this place is the Nightsky..always beautiful whatever the weather.

My apartment is situated in the Eco village attached to the village of Cloughjordan
We are 20 Klms from Nenagh town, and approximately the same from Birr and roscrea.
There is a Train from dublin and also from Limerick
There is a local bus to the bigger towns on certain days

How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
