About the Homestay
Welcome to our large redstone Victorian house in Dublin city the capital of The Craic, the art of life! I hope you will have some fun in Dublin, it's really what we like to do best, part of our culture and legacy is to make the most of life.
Our house is located in one of the coolest parts of Dublin. It's been voted Ireland "coolest neighbourhood" and ranks 50th in Time Out Magazine to live in! Just a little north west of O'Connell Street we are 5 minutes walk to the Phoenix Park, 10 minutes from Heuston Station and 10 minutes from the Luas, everything in Dublin city is walking distance and museums and history is on the doorstep as one of Dublins oldest areas it's got heaps of character.
Stoneybatter has a great sense of community, it's full of great restaurants, cool cafes (check out Social Fabric, Wuff, and Cake Cafe) and shops and is home to the Dublin Institute of Technology. The rooms in our Victorian home are well decorated and comfortable. There is a large kitchen/dining room and a reading room to the front of the house.
We (Fiona & Liam), have lived in 'The Batter' for 18 years now. We have done a lot of travelling in the past few years and lived in Australia for the last 6 years returning August 2019. We enjoy meeting new people and expect anyone who comes to stay with us to enjoy the house as it would be their own. We have welcomed people from all over the world, and aim to make your stay with us one to remember. Our house was built in 1863, has 3 stories, 5 bedrooms and is full of unique character. we have renovated a lot in our house so it is clean, new and welcoming. We spend a lot of our time in the kitchen, cooking and chatting, we love to learn about other cultures and countries. Our guest rooms are large with double beds, tall ceilings and large windows. We have a very spacious city garden. Being so close to the city, and it's a small city by global standards (more like a large town) there is plenty of transport options to choose from, a bus service takes you to the city centre in minutes, or you can walk in 15/20 minutes depending on which area. A large number of shops, restaurants, bars, gyms, yoga studios, art studios and facilities are extremely close by on foot.

Fiona’s house is very pleasant, big, well-decorated and confortable. I felt like at home. It’s close to the centre by foot. A bus station is near the house also.
The the surroundings are safety. There are plenty restaurants, cafés, pubs around . Fiona wasn’t there (she told me before I took the reservation) but she managed all things from the US where she was ! And she was really friendly and helpful. Thanks a lot Fiona.
Fiona is such a lovely host and their home is so beautiful. My room was spacious and comfortable and they helped me to feel so at home. It’s also in a lovely area, not far from the city area and close to lots of transport. Would definitely recommend :)
It was a very good time, spent chatting in a great huge kitchen with access to the patio. The house is elegantly decorated and Fiona is a wonderful and kind host. And the stories we shared feed our imaginations. Anna & Joanna
A wonderful stay in a beautiful house! Fiona is a fantastic host. We spent many evenings talking, listening. Thank you Fiona for speaking more slowly for me. My friend and I were on an Erasmus teacher training course and we ended up in the best place for a 2 week stay. Thanks Fiona!
When I left Fiona’s house at 6 am, it was so quiet outside and the sun just started to make an appearance. It was the perfect moment to consider my time in Dublin, leaving with many heart warming memories. Wherever I was in Ireland, Fiona’s house was a home away from home I loved to come back to. Fiona, Liam, and Amber are wonderful and living together in their big and cozy home was a pleasure. Whenever I was in need of something they kindly helped me out. We had lovely chats about how Dublin works or just my most current experiences. I felt more than very well accommodated. Thank you!
My trip to Dublin was the most amazing of my whole life and it would not have been so without Fiona and Liam. They were so nice with me, they were always willing to help me. I found another family and another home abroad, and I'm so grateful for that, especially during covid. The room was so big and beautiful, same for the entire house. Everything was clean, tidy, I had everything I needed. I was totally independent but I also really enjoyed our talks in the kitchen. Fiona and Liam shared their experiences with me, and made me discover the history of Dublin and Ireland. Also, the location of the house was just perfect, with Phoenix Park just beside it, a Tesco and a Lidl, and a lot of buses all the time.
I'm so happy to have chosen Fiona and Liam's house, I will never forget them.
Thank you so much for what you've done for me, you don't realise how important and lovely this trip has been in my life and it is for a great part thanks to you.
I stayed at Fionas house for almost three month and I really enjoyed the time. It is a cozy, clean and quite place with everything you need to feel comfortable. Fiona and Liam are very warm and helpful hosts who are always available for a nice chat. Despite the Lockdown, it was a wonderful experience and I will definitely come back soon to hopefully have some more of the craic :-)
I was at Fiona and Lan's house for two months and I felt at home, she helped me and advised me from the beginning and she was very patient with me and my basic English.
Excellent location and a big, beautiful and clean house.
I'd certainly be staying at his place again
Great location and great value with a kind, fun, interesting family - if Fiona has a room available in her gorgeous home, grab it!
I stayed with Fiona and Liam for five weeks and I loved it! The Garden Room is very spacious and has lots of storage room as well. Fiona and Liam are lovely and we had a lot of great chats!
