My stay with Gary and Gunta was very lovely. They are both very kind and friendly. My room, the one on the top floor was very confortable and clean. Gunta was taking care of washing my closes and it was perfect for me. They also are very flexible with the time of the dinner you just have to warn them if you don't eat at home. Their home is also quit close to the city centre (20min by bus to O'Connell Street). For me, it was a really nice stay. :)
Gunta and Gary are super attentive hosts, discreet but present when necessary and leaving us a private space. If you want to be in a quiet place while being close to Dublin (only 20 min by bus) this is the ideal place. And little extra, a family park at the foot of the house and the sea (beach or Howth) a little bit further ..... breakfast and lunch comprise in the price are really good and healthy. Hope to see you in the future
Dear Gary, Gunta and kids,
Thanks for those four months in your house (january to the end of may). It was a pleasure to meet you all. Dublin is an expensive but amazing city and it was an unforgetable experience.
I tried the two rooms that it is possible to rent in your house. The firstone at the ground floor has a private bathroom and the second one is at the top of the house, under the roof (atic room). The bathroom have to be shared with the family but it is not a problem because the house and the bathroom are clean all the time.
Breakfast and diner are included in the price (€800 per month) and was good and varied.
Diner is served at 7PM most of the time and it is possible to eat it after ( put in the microwave). The family is really polite and agreeable all the time. Gunta wash the closes and clean the room once a week.
The localisation is very good because it is about 25 min in bus to Howth (bus 31), 40 min by walk of Bull Island (beach), just near the house there is the Saint Anne's Park (2nd bigest park of Dublin) and there is a small SPAR in the top oil station. Finally, it is about 20-25 min in bus ( 29a, 31, 31b, 32) and arrive in the city centre (near O'connell street). The last bus from the city centre is at 11:30PM and a taxi ( night cost) is about €12.
I think that it is a good option to choose a room in this house because the family is agreeable, the house is in a safe place and little outside of the city but not far. Even if the price is higher than other place, I think that it is attractive because I just had to buy the lunch.
I was glad to meet you all and it was a pleasure to stay in your house. It helps me to discover the Irish culture and the hospitality.
Famille accueillante chambre bien repas juste un plat mais copieux petit dej correct petit bémol un peu éloigné du centre de Dublin mais bus a proximite
Very nice homestay with a great family inside :) Thank you for having us!
It was really nice days during staying gunta & gary home :) location is really cool to catch up on the bus and train. you can get a city within 20min. There is a big park in front of house. It's very safe area :D feels so comfortable Thanks to gunta, gary and kids! See u next time
I agree that the review below is false, I spent 10 wonderful days in the house, the dinner provided is good, the bus stop is in front of the house and it only takes 15 min to go to the city. Hope I'll see you again ! Thank's for everything !
It was a amazing stay. It is a very friendly family and every time ready to help us. Also the breakfast and dinner were tasty. You have a good connection with bus or train to the city or other places. Also the big St. Anne´s park is in front of the house where you can go for a walk. Thank you for nice 6 days :)
I chose this family for a group of students with a teacher. I've never done it myself, it's usually the school that's doing it. Warned in advance about our late arrival and asked to feed the children with dinner, to which the family kindly agreed. However, when settling in, the following problems emerged: the junior member of the group was settled in an attic space that was small, dusty and dirty. The teacher was offered to settle in one room with two students, although a separate room was paid for her. As a result, the teacher agreed to live in an attic in a dirty little room, and the boy was placed in a small room with two older boys, with no beds in this room - there was a very small sofa where an 11 year old child could not fit completely, so when He slept - his legs hanging to the floor. Dinners for children were not on time, monotonous and tasteless - mostly dry pasta. On the eve of the departure, the landlady said that before 12 o'clock all the children should leave the house, although in conditions of residence this was not indicated. The mistress of the house said that in all hotels weaving rules - but this is not a hotel. In addition, children were forbidden to use hot water and wash in the shower in the evening. When they arrived they were not even allowed to wash their hands before dinner. Two boys lived in a tiny room, in which there was no furniture, except for two beds and a small sofa, about the dimensions of which I already wrote. Things of children and suitcases lay for a whole week on the floor. In the rooms for the whole week nobody was cleaning.
Accommodation conditions do not correspond to the declared. We are going to issue a statement of claim to the court in order to compensate for moral damage and return money for unsolicited services.
I think that it is necessary to prohibit this family from placing juveniles due to their unworthy attitude towards children.
That was a great moment ! Gunta was a great host :) thx for this 5 days !
