FRIENDLY AND RELAXING HOUSE IN BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS WITH EXCELLENT TRANSPORT OPTIONS.

We live in a nice, quiet five bedroom house in an old, friendly and safe area of leafy, suburban Dublin. Our house is called Abhaile. That's HOME in Irish! When you check in you will understand that you are indeed home.
Our local amenities include a beautiful hotel, large garden centre with cafe, a newsagents and launderette. Clondalkin village is a short walk from our home and offers a wide range of amenities and activities including, a library, shopping facilities, cafes, a church, restaurants, bars and local historical areas. Corkagh Park, with beautiful greenery and stunning walkways is within walking distance from our home also. A wide range of transport options are close by including bus and tram stations, buses to the airport, Dublin city centre and throughout Ireland.

FAMILY
My name is Phyl and I am happily married to Dermot. We have 4 grown up children. Emma, Matthew and Linda have left the nest and our youngest son Rory is still living here with us.

WORK
Dermot owns and runs a very busy, contemporary art gallery in the Stephen’s Green Centre, located at the top of Grafton Street, in Dublin City Centre. This area is very popular with tourists and art collectors and one of the most elite areas of the city. There are lots of great museums and places of interest. Many restaurants, bars, cafes and fantastic shopping areas too.

I will be your Homestay Host. I throughly enjoy my job looking after people. In our home, we are always interested in different cultures and eager to have good conversation and help out in any way we can.
We love to take on students and we have been doing so for a few years now. We have had many guests from all corners of the earth. We find it very interesting talking with them and learning about their culture and traditions in their country. We are very proud to say our previous guests still keep in contact with our family today. We have made many friends.

We love to sing and Dermot plays guitar. We enjoy all genres of music with traditional Irish ballads and country music being our favourite. A sing song is an occasional activity in our living room, with everyone invited of course!

ACCOMMODATION
Our rooms are available for students, workers and holiday makers. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate families with children as the environment in the house is more suited towards adults.

We have one bedroom presently available in our home. Bedroom 1 is a single room with a double bed which caters for one person. It is very spacious. The bedroom is cozy and clean with plenty of wardrobe and storage space. There is a desk and reading lamp for those who are studying. We have Wi-Fi accessible throughout .

Bathroom facilities includes a shower, wash basin and toilet. It is generally exclusive to our guest and is right next door to the bedroom.

PAYMENT
Please note when booking the accommodationa % is firstly paid to Homestay.
The additional cost should be paid in-part/full in advance of arrival (please contact us to discuss which option you prefer) OR we can accept the full/remaining balance on the day you arrive.
We appreciate your cooperation on this matter.

COOKING
The kitchen has all modern conveniences. Feel free to use the kitchen but please clean up after!

BREAKFAST
A light continental breakfast is included in the room rate as complimentary.
Please note that we do not provide meals other than this.

LAUNDRY SERVICE
We provide a washing machine for guests to do their own laundry. We provide a washing line in our back garden and clothes-airers for drying clothes.

Wi-Fi and TV
There is WiFi throughout the house. It is included in the room rate. There is a television in our living room with satellite channels. Netflix is available for guests to watch movies on your own device.

GARDENS
We have a large back garden with a sun patio which our visitors enjoy very much.

TRAVEL
Bus stops are at the end of our street and take between 40 and 60 minutes to the City Centre, depending on the time of day. The LUAS is a tram system and the nearest stop, the Red Cow, is 15-20 minutes walk from our house, depending on your walking speed!! The LUAS tram takes about 30 minutes to the City Centre from the RED COW transport hub.
There are many buses from there to different parts of the country.

Driving to the City takes about 20-30 minutes, again depending on the time of day. We have plenty of off street parking.
We live close to a main junction to the M50 Motorway which can bring you anywhere you want to go in Dublin and countrywide.

SPORT
Corkagh Park is a beautiful large park close by. It is popular for jogging and walking. There are lakes and sports fields there too.

Due to recent circumstances involving Covid-19 we ask for all guests coming to stay to be fully vaccinated. Sorry if this causes any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

You are very welcome to book with us. Please take some time to read the reviews our previous guests have written. We look forward to hearing from you and hope you will enjoy staying with us!

I stayed at Phyl and Dermot's lovely home for about four months during my Erasmus semester. The room is very comfortable and cozy, plus I had my own bathroom, which was super convenient. The house is big and has everything you need, and of course I was able to use the kitchen whenever I wanted to. Location is great as well, the area is quiet and safe and the bus stop is practically outside the door – it does take 40-50 minutes to get into the city center depending on the time of day, but the commute is quite relaxed so this did not bother me. Plus for the price of the room, this is really a great deal for Dublin.

Phyl and Dermot went above and beyond to ensure I had a comfortable stay – they were always happy to help me out with things, give me recommendations for things to do in the area, etc. Many conversations were had in the kitchen as well, it was always pleasant to come home in the evening and find someone there to talk about the events of the day with.

I'm very happy I got to spend this time with such nice, warm-hearted people. Thank you so much for everything!

Phyl and her family are very warm, kind and nice people. She and her husband well cooked lasagna, Irish style steak and more many. Her family are oriented to music very much. Specially her husband is nice Irish musician. I had sung and played the guitar for Irish and old pops with him many times at home. They love music very much. You know that the family who loves music are always nice people. For last a couple of days, he composed a song with lyrics, and then we made a entire music with singing and playing together included intro, interval and ending that is called 'cocooning song' for getting over Corona Virus. They may let you listen to the music, if you want. This is a fantastic experience for me with Irish people in Dublin. I strongly recommended you to stay this lovely home with family, specially you are musician. He will introduce great pubs and group meetings to enjoy and watch singing and playing together. If you are a musician, you should be here with them. I have been missing them already. That was like my home and being with my family for almost 50 days. It is beyond my description in English as a Korean.

I had a wonderful day here.
Phyl thought of my convenience, and Dermot tried to listen to me every time I met him. We ate beer together and talked. I will never forget that memory.
Even though I could not communicate well because of my lack of English, they tried to help me and I lived in a comfortable home. I was so thankful for all things while living together.

I spent 3 weeks at Phyl's house, and it was just perfect. Everyone is adorable. The room was great, the breakfast was way better than expected, and they all are really friendly and out going. It was really perfect, don't hesitate to go to Phyl's house, it's THE BEST.

I stayed with Phyl and Dermot for 5 month and I could't ask for more, those two are so warm-hearted and funny. Every single one in the house became part of my "Irish Family" and I'll never forget my time in Dublin. All the good conversations during breakfast, the movie nights with wine and popcorn or just the feeling to come "home" after a long day.
Phyl is masso, she cleans your room every week and provides fresh bedsheets and towels. Breakfast is perfect and everything you need for a good start is provided. You can use the kitchen whenever you want to and guests are always welcome.
Even if it takes a bit of a time to go to the city centre there is a direct bus and it is very relaxed and definitely worth it.

Thank you so much for everything Phyl and Dermot!
