About the Homestay
My Family Home:
I live in a 4 bedroom semi-detached house in a residential area close to a park and lots of open green spaces and Lidl shop which is approx a 3- 4 minutes walk. It is a very cozy house with a modern upgraded central heating system. The external walls have been insulated to a very high standard.
I have 5 grandchildren, 3 girls and 2 boys ranging in ages from nearly 9 years to 5months. Two of my grandchildren are French and live in Nice with my eldest daughter and French son-in-law. Two of my grandchildren live 5 minutes away and call to my house every other day and the other lives approx 20 minutes away.
The large back bedroom consists of a very comfortable queen size bed with built-in wardrobes and two bedside lockers with lamps. There is a TV in this room too. I have two single bedrooms they too have built-in Wardrobes and bedside lamps. All beds have excellent quality orthopedic mattresses. All bedrooms have WiFi and a spare set of bed linen for long stay guests who will be responsible for keeping their own bedrooms clean and tidy.
I have a lovely conservatory which I use all year round as I enjoy the view of my patio back garden which has a very nice granite table and granite seats for those sunny days of barbecuing and eating outside. This room has a TV /WiFi and stereo system in it with some nice cane furniture. I have a downstairs WC with a wash-hand basin. The kitchen is separated by the conservatory and dining room and includes all mod cons such as microwave, washing machine, plenty of cooking utensils etc. Guests have the use of these facilities especially if they are here on a long-stay. I have wireless internet throughout the house so this would be great for students who use Skype to keep I contact with their family. My sitting room is to the front of the house with Large TV with many channels.
I live 5 minutes away from the 15/65B bus stops which will take you directly into the city. The 15 bus operates every 10 minutes during the day and every 20-25 after 20.00. The 65B is not as frequent but is a shorter journey to and from the city.
I live close to some of the famous traditional pubs Johnny Foxes and The Merry PloughBoy which is very popular for tourists frequent. I live on a very quiet road with plenty of greenery all around and a local pub Scholars about 4 minutes’ walk from my house. They have musicians playing music at weekends which is very enjoyable evening.
I live very close to the M50 so if any guest wanted to travel to any other part of Ireland they have easy access north or southbound by rental car.
If main front door keys are lost by a guest you must pay for replacement lock and new keys. This is very expensive and could cost over €200.

Please keep the bathroom clean and tidy after each use by rinsing the bath with sponge and disinfectant which is always in the bathroom. Remember this is a shared bathroom and no one likes a dirty bath! There are always clean towels and floor mats outside the bathroom. No sowers after 22.00 hrs unless agreed with me.
Central Heating/Hot Water:
Please do not adjust the central heating/hot water settings yourself, ask me and I will happily do it for you. If you have any problems just ask me and I will check it out.
Other House Rules:
Keep noise to a minimum after 22.30 as this is a residential area and I have neighbours living each side of me and there may be other guests asleep in the house?
Please do not smoke inside the house however you can smoke outside but use the ashtrays for cigarette butts and not the garden etc. If you are caught smoking in bedrooms you will be asked to leave my home immediately or by first light next day.
Please do not invite strangers into my home; if you would like to invite a friend there is no problem once you check in with me first.
Please let me know if you are not coming home any night as I am a natural worrier and don’t want to be worrying about your safety unnecessarily.
Please enjoy your stay and treat my house with respect as you would your own home!
Smoking is not allowed.
Carmel is really a nice host. She really makes everybody feel at home and offers her help for anything you could need. Besides, the house is cozy and placed in a beautiful and quiet area of the city. It's been a great experience to live there.
She really made it a home from home
Stayed with Carmel for the week, she is friendly and very helpful. Bus to the City Centre was about a 7 min walk for her front door and the No.15 took about 40mins to reach the City Centre, although there are a number of buses from different routes, I found the no.15 bus the most frequent.
Would I stay in Carmel's house again? Absolutely.
Carmel really makes you feel as home. Whatever you need, she is there to help you in your life as student and in general. Unfortunately I've been sick once and I needed go to the doctor, Carmel quickly took me in her own medical center as a member of my family had would done.
The house is really quiet, tidy and clean. You have your own room. Also there are stop buses to go to the center with good frequently.
Of course I recommend this house to live an experience and practise english. I only could say "Thanks Carmel to let me feel as my home in your place"
Best of the Best!!!

We had such a wonderful first experience in Dublin on Paddy's weekend. Despite that Carmel was at that time in Paris everything was arranged perfectly. Vanessa and Leo takes over and were very friendly and helpful ( not always easy with 4 young students :) ) I would highly recommend Carmel's home to every student who wants to visit Dublin. Carmel turns over your trip into an amazing vacation. Hope the next time to meet her.
Carmel is an amazing host and the house is lovely. Carmel is so warm and caring and does everything possible to to make you comfortable. She treats you as family. Its a lovely home in a lovely residential area, with everything you could need. The beds are really comfy, its clean, and the bus leaves for the centre every 8 mins at peak times. We had an amazing time, thanks Carmel!

Absolute lady couldn't have done enough 4 me,'I'm forever grateful 4 her kindness and generosity.... I'd definitely reccomend her xxx
I really enjoyed staying with Carmel and I cannot recommend this Homestay highly enough.
She gave me some helpful advice on my arrival and made sure that I wouldn’t get lost by staying in contact during my journey from the airport and picking me up from the bus stop near her house.
Carmel is a very caring person and even after her incredibly busy days she will always make sure that you are doing well.
There is a good chance that you share the home with other guests from around the world and have the chance to share stories and laughter over a cup of tea and perhaps even find the time to prepare a meal together.
I felt very comfortable in the single back bedroom, and slept like a baby from the first night on.
Thank you for hosting me, Carmel!
