I had high hopes based on the positive reviews, but unfortunately, my stay was disappointing. I’m sharing my experience to help others avoid the same issues.
Host Behaviour and Privacy:
The most concerning part of my stay was when the host entered my room without prior notice while I wasn’t there. This felt like a serious invasion of privacy, especially since my personal belongings were in the room. Although the host mentioned she would change the sheets, she never specified when and didn’t inform me before entering. When I brought this up, her response was dismissive, saying, "If you're unhappy, you can pack your stuff and leave." This lack of respect for guests' privacy made me feel uncomfortable throughout my stay.Location:
The house is near the bus stop for the city direct 411, which is about 15-20 minutes by bus to the city centre. However, the 411 is the ONLY available bus, and this route is known for inconsistent service, with long waits and, at times, skipped stops, especially during bad weather. On some occasions, there were significant delays of up to an hour, leaving few alternatives. If the bus was delayed or didn’t arrive, the next option was to take the 402/405 bus, which was about a 30 minute walk away— HIGHLY INCONVENIENT. During my stay, road closures due to waterworks further impacted access to public transport.Rules:
The house rules were quite restrictive. Showering was limited to 20 minutes, and the water heater was on a timer, which I only discovered after having to endure a cold shower. Any attempt to discuss these issues was met with blame, as the host rarely took responsibility or showed any willingness to resolve concerns. The host also monitored bathroom usage, which felt intrusive. Additionally, strict rules such as prohibiting kitchen or dining room use after 8pm and banning food in the rooms made things difficult for anyone returning late.Cleanliness:
Guests were expected to clean up after using the bathroom and sinks, but the shared cleaning cloth provided smelled unpleasant and didn’t seem to be changed often.Host reply

A really cozy and warm room. Very nicely and newly decorated. The house is very clean. You can tell that Siobhan takes good care of it. The place is extremely close to the bus stop (really like 200 meters or so) where you can catch a bus directly to the town centre (15-20 minutes to get there). There are shops within 20 minutes walk (Lidl and Aldi). Siobhan is amazing, she was really lovely and made sure I was comfortable. She also helped me with getting PPSN card and gave some advice pertaining the area. And also I'm sending much love to Murphy, the best and cutest dog in the world!

Siobhan was very kind and friendly.
The apartment was clean and comfortable but the public bus sometimes didn’t work so it was difficult to get in the city center.July 2024

Siobhan's house is very nice and clean, it is in a very quiet neighborhood, with some large supermarkets nearby (Lidl and Aldi 1km). Siobhan is kind and organized, and her dog Murphy is very friendly and has excellent behavior.

I'm student and I stayed in Galway for a month. Siobhan was a very nice host. The room and the accomodation were good. There was a bus line to go to the center (15min ride), next to the accomodation.

I had a very good stay with Siobhan. She is very kind and accommodating, she brought me things to work and once or twice dropped me off in the car to make it easier for me to get around the city (with my luggage in particular), and even helped me with my administrative procedures.
Thank you again and I wish you all the best.July 2022
