The house is beautiful, warm & comfortable but there was no T.V. or radio in the room. I was not offered the use of a sitting room so felt confined to my bedroom in the evening. Luckily I was out till 9.45pm both nights.
The host made some effort to make me feel welcome but the hostess made little or no effort at social connection. She did not even see me off at the door when I was leaving, just called out from behind an almost closed study door that she was on the computer and that was it. I felt that she was only interested in the money.
I was not asked what I wanted for breakfast on 2nd day, just got the same scrambled eggs as on day 1. I might have liked poached eggs for a change or would a rasher & sausage be out of the question for 60euro?
I will not be staying there again even though I am likely to be in the area. Ben the dog was nice and friendly but apart from that it did not qualify as a Homestay - more like a Housestay!
This was my first experience of Homestay and may be my last! I'm sorry I can't give a better review but hope this will help improve the service for customers.
    Yours sincerely,
    Jane S.

Homestay Host Family LESLIE in ,

    Hi Jane,
I would like to say in the two years of hosting on Homestay you were the rudest guest i have had to stay in our very welcoming home, but honestly after you arrived back from your event and i introduced myself to you,you made no effort to be polite or nice ,i asked you, had you a nice evening and you replied sternly yes ,i then said, what time would you like breakfast at, you replied mumbling, i am not a morning person and usually did not eat breakfast to which i replied no worries this is what i serve and listed off the breakfast to which we serve all our guests. I then offered you a night time beverage before bed as you said you were tired, you asked for Camomile tea, which i served to you and offered you a biscuit to which you practically grabbed off me instead of waiting for me to pass it over to you.Next morning you came downstairs and i said good morning, you again very sternly said good morning back and made it quite clear from your comment the evening before you were not a morning person and yes i saw that .Now for some one who didn't eat in the mornings you certainly ate everything that i offered, you had orange juice, cereal, eggs, toast and coffee.I was shocked you never said please or thank you, over the years we have been hosting, you are the first rude person to stay in our home and i won't tolerate bad manners and discomfort which i clearly felt the moment you arrived. As for your comment about your sixty euros and your change of breakfast, lady get a life, you need to look at your behaviour as you would not be welcome into many Homestays or anywhere for that matter.
I am and will always be the perfect host, simply because i respect everyone, your problem being,no manners or respect for anyone.

    Leslie

Excellent service/experience. First time using Homestay & after staying with Leslie would highly recommend it. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royalty. Great welcome/lovely room and facilities. Great hosts who couldn't do enough for us. Didn't feel like we were guests in their house, made us feel very much at home.
Beautiful house & country setting yet very close to Kildare & the many local tourist attractions.
Would highly recommend a stay if you are in the area.
