Homestay guest Mai from Vietnam
I enjoyed the friendliness and hospitality of the host family. They talked to me everyday and offered help. They gave me advice on things I should do, places I should visit and where I should have lunch. It made me feel like I was living at home. I prefer a homestay to other types of accommodation because I feel safer and more comfortable when I live with a family.

I stayed in Reading for a conference - The Eurosla conference which was held in the University of Reading from the 30th of August to the 2nd of September. I presented my PhD project there. I was surprised because this area is so peaceful and quiet. The people there are so friendly. They would say hi when I saw them walking on the street. I walked around the campus of University of Reading, walked along the Thames River, went shopping in the Town Center and enjoyed fresh air in Christchurch Meadows.

I think if you come to Reading you should stay choose a homestay and the host family will give you best advice. They will tell you what to do and where to visit. If I come back to Reading I will visit the Windsor castle which is not very far from the town center. I will also go to the forest and visit orchards.
My experience with the host was so amazing. She told me a lot about the area, British culture and her own stories. This was also the first time I have lived in the countryside of England. Life here is so much different from it is in London. I can widen my knowledge after that trip. In the future, If I have time I would definitely come back to Reading and explore this place.
