Authentic Irish experience in our homestay

Tell us about your homestay experience.

What I enjoyed most was the opportunity to be in an Irish home and have great conversations with the owners in English. Living an Irish life buying in the supermarket and cooking your dinner at home some days and staying in an Irish home gave us the opportunity to feel very much at home. In hotels you never get to know the life of the People and you feel very much like a foreigner but in homestay you get the chance to share a normal Irish Day with the family. We had a space in the fridge and got irish food in the supermarket. So we were able to cook or have irish fresh food . I went to work for a week and it felt like living there as we had a house to return to for Lunch. The room was excellent an we had an excellent bathroom for us and for another single guest with whom we  became good friends. They changed the bed linen and the towels and we were able to wash our clothes  in the washing machine and dry them in the dryer twice during the trip.

What did you do in Dublin?

We did some touring around for two weeks and I went for walks in the mornings for one week while my husband went for long walks. We visited the Wicklow Mountain with the Irish landlords and we took the train to Galway for the Day. We played Golf in Howth and shopped in the city centre. I Met some Irish friends for a meal and we went to temple bar

Any tips or advice for other travellers?

You should go to the Guinness Store and go for outings to the country. Don't miss temple bar and the Carrols Souvenirs shops and book in advance the Book of Kells in trinity college. Howth and Bray are worth visiting and if you play golf the deer Park golf course or the Howth golf park are great for playing.

How was your experience with your host?

Excellent. We went together on an excursion a had great chats with them.  We learn some things about Irish life. They were very interesting conversations and gave us great advice about places to visit . They brought us to the supermarket the first Day and showed us how to get a leap card for the public transport
