  Although their daughter walked into her room and exclaimed how beautiful the room was, and the family never complained to me, they left a horrible review. Their beds were made fresh before they arrived as I laundered all the sheets and blankets, yet they said they found hairs in the bed. I just made them so that was impossible. I left a heater in their room, should the a/c make them feel cold and told them to feel free to use it, yet they complained of cold. I allowed them to make use of some of the common space which, typically, they wouldn't have access to, yet they complained that I was using my treadmill in the common area of my home when they arrived back home. This was during early evening hours and I was off well before they would have gone to sleep. They clearly didn't understand what homestay is and how they are accepting accommodation in somebody's home while they are living there. This is not a private rental property. I did not go into their personal space at all, nor would I. They are not renting an entire basement apartment and there is, typically, provision of bedsheets, toilet paper and laundry facilities, but not towels.

  I have been providing homestay to many satisfied international guests and students since 1994 and, so, this was a little shocking and disappointing. This family was here for 4 days, and I offered them free parking for their car and free wifi. I asked them more than once if everything was okay and they said that it was. If they were unhappy with something, I think that it would have been more appropriate and considerate if they would have discussed their issues with me when I asked, rather than to write a horrible review. Considering that they complained about their space being cold, after I offered them a heater, this is baffling. John clearly communicated with me, so there is no doubt in my mind that he understood this.

  In conclusion, this family that you may try hard to please and they will, nevertheless, find things to complain about that don't even make sense.
