    We have never had a more disrespectful guest in our house.

    He disrupted other homestay guests due to his extreme uncleanliness (particularly in the kitchen and bathroom) and disregard for house rules, shared spaces and safety.

    We have a clearly indicated house rule that no food is allowed in the bedrooms. After we talked about this with him, he kept eating in his room. I am talking about boxes of cookies left in the bed, jugs of juice laying on the pillows, leaving dinner dishes with runny eggs to dry up for days on the closet shelf! We talked to him two more times about this and he lied to us that he was not doing it anymore, but I could smell it and when we went to investigate saw the eggs in the closet.

    He also used a hair product which destroyed the pillow cases, pillow protectors and stained the sheets. I ask to wash the sheets every week, and he would not take the sheets off his bed for me to do this, after repeated requests. On the third week of his stay, he finally could not avoid my insisting that I wash his sheets. I saw the damage to the bedding and he agreed to pay the cost to replace the sheets and pillow protectors (around $50). I offered for him to keep the damaged pillowcases and protectors so that the next house he went to would not have to deal with this problem. Instead he used the extra set of pillowcases and destroyed them too. Later he said he could not pay because he was waiting for his paycheck from France, and that it conveniently would arrive the day after he checked out. After he checked out, he said he would not pay, and that I should just use different cleaning products and that it would come out.

    He also left stains on the wall, behind the bed. Normal cleaning products did not take out the grease and stains (from his hair product). I had to use TSP, and last night after cleaning his filthy room, I had to repaint the wall before another guest arrives this evening. And his response again was, use a stronger cleaning product, you just have to paint it. This is not normal wear and tear. These are damages to our property and he would not compensate us for them. He wouldn't even acknowledge it was a problem or take any responsibility for it.

    The last thing, which was worse than the inconvenience of the repairing walls and replacing sheets and deep cleaning his room and the bathroom, was that he left the oven on and checked himself out. By the time I came home from work and went to look at the space the oven had been on for 7 hours. His repsonse "Oh, I was sure I thought I turned it off". What an expensive waste of electricity, and a potential fire hazard.

    Seriously, I wish no one will ever have to deal with this nightmare guest.
