About the Homestay
Our home is in a quaint hill village in Lazio, Italy, about an hour north of Rome by car or train. The guest side of our apartment is a 2 room suite with private bath and complete kitchen. The apartment was recently renovated to expose the original 18th century stone walls and architectural features. Furnishings are primarily Italian antiques rescued from here and there. There is a lovely terrace above the apartment with a 360 degree view of the historic center and the valleys below. Sunsets are lovely. Use of our garden in the valley is also encouraged. There you will fine cool shade or warm sun as you wish. Help yourself to tomatoes from the vine or fruit from the many trees. In Bomarzo, the wine is good, food is fresh, abundant, delicious and the people are openly friendly. The famous and unique Renaissance garden of Vicino Orsini, Parc dei Mostri, is a 10 minute walk from our door. Come experience the real Italy as our guest!

About the Area
Our house is just outside the city wall in the historic center of town. There is public parking adjacent. Train stations are in Orte (20 min) and Attigliano (10 min). There is a bus running from the train station at Orte to Bomarzo. The best way to see this rural area is by car. Car rentals are available in Rome and Viterbo. The closest airports are in Rome. We are close to Orte, Orvieto, Viterbo, Bassano, Soriano, Giove, Amelia, Caparola, Vitorchiano, Civita Bagnoregio (30 min), Siena (1 hr), Assisi (2 hr), and many other scenic spots.
There are several lovely restaurants serving delicious freshly prepared pasta, wood oven pizza and other selections. There a couple of bars in town perfect for sipping an evening aperivo or a cup of expresso. There is a gelato and pastry shop within easy walking distance of our house - just far enough to burn off or earn those fabulous calories.
Although Bomarzo is a small village of around 1000 people, there are 2 grocery stores, a bakery, a butcher shop and a pharmacy. A fish truck comes by once a week. A veggie truck comes to the nearby parking lot once a week offering fresh produce and best of all the porcetta truck parks in the piazza across from the bakery on Friday afternoons serving up warm, fennel flavored slices of juicy roast pork.
