Wi live in a large home in a little village perched on a hill near Asti, with a marvellous view of the Alps in the distance and a well-kept terraced garden.
The house has a spare bedroom with a double bed and a separate apartment with kitchen, bath and one further bedroom.
The area is in or close to the vineyards where some of the best wines in Italy are produced (Barbera, Barolo, Barbaresco) and the traditional food is excellent. Moreover, both my wife, who is Northern Irish, and I are excellent cooks and have a superior cellar full of good wines dug in the rock below the house.

About the Area

Our house overlooks a wide, green valley in the hills near Asti, in a typical Piedmont hill village with its church and castle.. In the distance, one has a beautiful view of the Alps. Nearby is a natural reserve with excellent walking and cycling paths. The reserve ends in the Valle Andona protected area. The protected area consists of a hilly territory where wild valleys covered with woodlands follow one after the other. The reserve mainly aims at protecting the paleontological heritage represented by fossils which have been found in some sedimentary strata outcropping along the walls of the valleys. They date back to the Pliocene (5-1.8 million years ago), when the sea covered the whole Po Plain up to the Alpine chain. The hilly slopes which were once mainly cultivated with vineyards are nowadays covered with black locust trees, hornbeams, and British oak woods. The undergrowth is dominated by hazelnut tree, spindle tree and honeysuckle.
