We are a pet owner now. We adopted a stray cat back in 2021.
He is a black cat with a white color V sign (Japanese call it as peace ) on his chest and because of that we named him Peace.

I am very grateful to have stayed at the Kyo Anthu Inn. My mom and I stayed here for two weeks, it was our first time coming to Japan. Emiko and her parents were super nice and helpful. Every morning Emiko and her mother brought us a delicious breakfast and Japanese tea. Since we were staying for a while, they cleaned the room every three days. We could also do laundry at the Inn for a small fee! If we needed a ride to the store or to the station or even to a place nearby, and Emiko or her parents had the time, they were happy to give us a lift. We had a lot of questions and Emiko graciously helped us with every one of them. She encouraged us to learn the train and bus system, always asked about our day, and greeted us leaving in the morning and coming back at night. She even texted us the best bus and train routes to take on various days when we were going out. I can speak a little Japanese and was able to talk a little with her mom now and then, which was fun, she's very sweet. Emiko and her mom went out to dinner with my mom on our last night in Kyoto, which was really nice. I highly recommend this homestay to anyone that wants to come to this area of Japan. They are one of the kindest, most compassionate, and helpful families I've met. This has been a lovely experience and awesome trip to Japan! Thank you Emiko-san!

I only stayed one day but I have a lot to share.

    1. This is easily the best Homestay in the entire Kyoto and one of the best in Japan in general, very lovely family, very clean home, very supportive, very educative about Kyoto culture and so much more.

    2. It is in the same city as the main station (Kyoto station) in Kyoto Prefecture.

    3. One of the few homestays where you get to spend time with the family if you want, I had tea and an amazing breakfast with them.

    4. Emiko-san dropped me off at the station which was very kind.

Looking forward to booking again in 2024.

Emiko and her family are great! The inn they run is clean and I had a good time talking to them at breakfast or in the evening when we had tea. It is also a great location to visit many of the famous tourist attractions in the city (3-5 min walk to train station and nearby bus stops). If I ever go back to Kyoto, I know where to stay.

Emiko was the perfect person for me to connect with as I set off to visit Japan on my own. She greeted me at the train station, invited me to have tea with her mother and grandmother, and she even took the time to help me get a tough stain out of my shirt when I did laundry.

I just loved meeting her family. Her mother, Yoko, was so warm and kind, and her 93-year-old grandmother, Kazuko, melted my heart. These small connections when I’m traveling change the experience for me and are such a contrast to the stark indifference of a hotel.

Emiko owns and runs the Kyo-Anthu Inn, which is where I stayed and where she and her family also live. The guest house was formerly her grandmother’s house which her family remodeled before the pandemic. It was the perfect combination of a homestay experience combined with the comforts and autonomy of a bed and breakfast.

The Kyo-Anthu Inn is tucked away in a quiet part of Kyoto but still close to the train station. I could easily walk to many temples and shrines, and I loved discovering the Gion district of Kyoto, which is where Japan’s most famous geisha live and work. I felt so comfortable coming and going from Emiko’s neighborhood even at nighttime.

I most appreciated how Emiko was there to greet me, every time I walked through the door. I feel like I learned so much more about Japanese culture and Japanese women after staying with her. I can’t wait to go back.

My family and I had a wonderful stay with Emiko and her family. You couldn't ask for better hosts. They are warm, welcoming and go above and beyond to ensure their guests have a great stay. Emiko helped with directions and advice and also taught us about everyday life in Japan. Her father gave us a ride to the train station which was very much appreciated. The facilities are also very clean and comfortable. Great bath, beds, and a Japanese eating table and little zen garden. We will always remember our stay with Emiko. My daughters, aged 5 and 7, didn't want to leave. Thank you so much for everything. Emily, Ash, Alice and Audrey xx

If you go to any other Homestay or hotel in Kyoto you are missing out on the best experience you could possibly get bar none.

The hotel and its rooms are immaculate and all the necessary items are included (fridge, safe, hair dryer, towels, bathrobe, toothbrush, shower gel, etc etc). The room is a good size with a very comfortable bed. It has a duvet which was very warm and clean. The air conditioner/heater worked perfectly.

The location is ideal for access to most of the tourist locations in Kyoto mainly thanks to it being 5 minutes walk to the local underground railway, from which you can access Kyoto's network of trains and buses.

However, this is not the best part of staying at this hotel. The best part is Emiko and her wonderful family. Their kindness goes way above what you would expect from a normal guest house or hotel. They just couldn't do enough for you! Even though I only stayed there for 2 nights I will remember them forever, including their wonderful grandmother!
