Room 1 (1-3 guests) and Room 2 (1-3 guests). Both are on the second floor (one up from the ground floor) of a modern house in eastern Tokyo. The beds have soft, interior-sprung mattresses. The railway station is only a five-minute walk away. Tokyo Skytree can be reached in five minutes on a train. Easy link to airports and Disneyland. Fast free wifi. All furnishings, fittings bought new. Shops, 24-hr stores, eateries in walking distance. Tokyo spots you can't reach on foot only minutes away by train.

Room 1 has 2 single beds and a futon. Also a table and seats, nightstands, a food-preparation area with fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle. Tea, coffee, potable water, and disposable plates, bowls and cutlery are included.

Room 2 has a queen-size bed and a sofa bed. Also a coffee table and nightstand.

We, the owners, are British and Japanese. We live with our dogs and cats in a separate, enclosed area on the ground floor.

The shared toilet and separate shower/bath/laundry area are on the ground level. The doors are labelled.

24-hour keyless entry to the house is via a digital code entered on an exterior push-button door panel. (Entry code and usage instructions supplied by message before arrival. Code will not be activated before check-in time.)

Access to the Internet via secure wireless broadband connection. [Password supplied after reservation and in print inside the room(s).]

Printed translation to English supplied for usage of all Japanese appliances.

Guest access

Access to a shared jacuzzi-jet bath/shower room and wash basin, all with hot and cold water. Separate toilet with heated seat and personal-hygiene water-jet washlet. Access to a clothes-washing machine. (Help yourself to laundry powder and softener.) There is a laundry-hanging area outside on our deck.

You can feel at home here. This apartment is not in a complex where there might be issues with noise-sensitive neighbours. It is in a 3-storey detached building that comprises only one other residential home. The private entrance door opens directly onto a quiet street. All rooms except the toilet have a window. There are adequate storage closets for luggage, clothes, and possessions.

Sleeping Arrangements
The sofa bed is in an area that faces the kitchen. It easily converts from a sofa into a comfortable bed with ample space for two people. It has a curtain that can be pulled around for privacy. The separate bedroom has two single beds, and a fifth guest would need to put down a good-quality, comfortable futon floor mattress. All bedding (all bought new) is supplied.

Your group will share none of the amenities described. You will be able to cook and prepare food in a kitchen equipped with an induction hotplate, microwave oven, fridge, toaster, kettle, pots, pans, and cooking/eating utensils. The bathroom has a shower and hot tub. There is a laundry-washing machine and space for clothes drying. The toilet is separate. Translation to English supplied for appliances' usage instructions, remote controls, etc.

Guest Access
It's a self-contained apartment. Fully furnished and equipped. For the exclusive use of a group of up to five guests.

Rules/policies/terms and conditions
Please take a few minutes to read the section under the "MEALS & RULES" tab here at Homestay.com so there will be no misunderstandings or surprises.

Interaction with guests
Both properties are in the same detached building where we also live. We're happy to chat and offer advice and ideas if we have experience that will help. We can usually give accurate directions to get you from A to B. That sometimes takes a few minutes, as we might have to look up the info ourselves. But we're good at tracking down the info you need, so don't be shy to ask.

Local area guide
All our guests are supplied with a URL link to our own local area guide for Yotsugi, Higashiyotsugi and beyond. The guide is a work constantly in progress, and updates will include more local services and points of interest within walking distance and a little further afield.

A point of interest that is due for a mention in the guide and did not get covered just yet is Yotsugi railway station itself. The station has been decked out like a football (soccer) field in honour of popular cartoon character Captain Tsubasa. Two local parks also have statues of Captain Tsubasa, and there's yet another just up the street from the station, a little past the branch office of the local government. I need to find out myself what all that's about :-)

Also worthy of mention is Tateishi, the next district (and one station up the track for those who don't like walking). Tateishi is packed with little eateries for those who want to do a local-food tour. Some other attractions there, too, and we'll try to get as many details as possible included in the update to the local area guide.

More ON the beaten track for visitors to Yotsugi/Higashiyotsugi are Tokyo Skytree and Asakusa Sensoji temple. Those are just five minutes and eight minutes away by train, respectively. (At Skytree you can also board a special bus that will take you right to Tokyo Disneyland. Departs 19 times a day.)

Right here in our own subdistrict of Higashiyotsugi, there are a range of backstreet eateries and inns serving a larger range of food and beverages -- some specialized and some with a little of everything. We have added some already, but we will be getting more of them in the local area guide.

The rules don't let us add a link to the guide here now, but you will get access once you have a confirmed booking.

About the Area

The property is located in a quiet, residential area of Katsushika Ward, eastern Tokyo, Japan.

We will send you a URL for a multilingual tourism website that tells you what's in our area, other parts of Tokyo, and all over Japan. We will provide a link to our own local area guide. There are various restaurants, bars, liquor stores, convenience stores, and a 24-hour supermarket in walking distance. There are English-speaking medical, dental, and prescription pharmacy options, if you need them. We are only three minutes from a riverside park that offers sunset views with Tokyo Skytree in the landscape. The riverside has paved paths that are popular with cyclists, walkers and runners. You can also see Mount Fuji from there on a clear, winter day. We're in a spot that facilitates hops to any part of Tokyo that takes your fancy, including Disney Resort.

Getting around

Five-minute walk from Yotsugi railway station on the Keisei-Oshiage line. 1.4km from the Yotsugi interchange on the Central Circular Route (C2) of the Metropolitan Expressway. A 'Disney special' expressway bus leaves for Tokyo Disney Resort 19 times a day, between 6am and 10pm, from a departure point just 15 minutes away. Fares: Adult 720 yen; Child 360 yen. By train: Haneda Airport (direct) 51min, Narita Airport 56min, Tokyo Station 30min, Disney Resort 40+min, Akihabara 22min/Asakusa 8min/Tsukiji 32min/Ginza 26min/Ueno 20min/Roppongi 37min/Shinjuku 37min/Shibuya 40min. Terry & Kumiko are amazing hosts. Due to the Corona Virus situation in Japan, we canceled our booking last minute. They have been helping us enormously, answering questions, updating the Corona-Virus situation and giving us some of the refund back. We feel deeply appreciated by their support. The trip was canceled but we felt very connected with them already. We are definitely going back to stay with them for sure. We will book directly with the host. PS>> guys DO NOT book with Home Stay. com, they do not have any mercy policy to support the travelers!

Thank you, Kak Seng. Just one correction: It takes only five minutes to walk to the station. We know that from much experience, and Google Maps agrees.

Good location even if the area is not very nice but I stay only one night, so I didn't have any time to visit. The bedroom was OK, very clean with good accommodation. Terry is a good host, every things were well described and detailed.

Thanks, Corinne, but I hope you don't mind if I point out that it's a tad harsh to say the area's not "nice" when, just as you say, you had no time to explore it. It seems you just overnighted here between Tokyo airport and heading for Kyoto. We're not complaining about that, though. We get a lot of guests who do the same because we have good links to the airports and shinkansen station. However, anyone who does have the time to explore can find points of interest in walking distance and close by. Those include Asakusa Sensjoi temple and Tokyo Skytree. If you have the time to come back this way again, please ask us for more info about these places -- whether you decide to stay with us or not.
