I had a wonderful time during my stay with the Tsukamoto family! They are both really kind and welcoming people and tried to help whenever they could and did their best to make my stay more comfortable than it already was. The breakfast was delicious and always something different. While eating breakfast we always had enjoyable conversations and they were always interested in my plans for the day and helped me with directions.
The next train station is about a 10 minute walk away and there is a bus stop close by, too. The next convenient store is literally next to their house and there are many other shops nearby.
On my last day, they gave me a ride to the station and helped me with buying the train tickets.
All in all I had a great experience!
I highly recommend the Tsukamoto house to anyone planning on visiting Tokyo and I would love to visit them again!

I had a wonderful time staying with Yuriko-san and Tsukamoto-san. I felt very welcome in this heartwarming place and enjoyed the time with them at the breakfast every morning. Even though it was only for a short time it felt like home!!<3

I loved the big quiet room and the conversation over breakfast. I'm 57 so I liked staying with an older couple. They were very patient with my Japanese and Yuriko has a good sense of humor. I enjoyed looking at Jin's photo books of all the visitors. They gave me advice on using the phone, bus, and trains and even gave me a ride to the station the last day. I'd like to come back with my husband and stay there again. Machida is a sweet quiet place. I suggest the set lunch at Baru Maru, which is run by women, it seems. The coloring book art museum five minutes walk away looks great, but it was closed.

We had a wonderful time staying at the Tsukamoto's house. We wanted to immerse ourselves in the Japanese culture and what better way to do it than to stay with such gracious hosts. There's a bus stop a minute away and the subway station is about a 15 minute walk from the house. Mrs.Tsukamoto prepared us breakfast every morning and we enjoyed our morning "conversations". Mr.Tsukamoto also was helpful with navigation and attractions in Tokyo for our day. They were always interested in how our day went. I cannot express enough how much we enjoyed our stay with them. The Tsukamotos are the definition of Omotenashi. We definitely would stay with them again in the future.

I stayed in the comfortable and spacious upstairs (loft) room for nearly a month during Feb/March 2017 with shared use of all the other facilities. Yuriko and Jin were excellent hosts and made me feel very welcome. Yuriko is a great cook and I enjoyed both the breakfasts which were a mix of western and Japanese style and the Japanese style evening meals (when I chose to eat in). I was trying to learn some Japanese as well as working, and I found Yuriko and Jin very patient and helpful, and we often spent time together chatting after breakfast or dinner.

I was able to walk to the metro/train station in 12-15 mins, and connections to central Tokyo and to the Ueno area are very good. The Machiya area itself also feels homely with narrow streets and many people travelling by bicycle. Yuriko and Jin have many family members in the area, (including a niece who speaks good English and is willing to translate if needed), and they introduced me to several of them. Jin very kindly gave me several lifts during my stay.
All in all a very homely place to stay and a great experience!

    ジンさんとユリコさんありがとうございます!
    楽しかった!
The family room has this cool little tatami space up the stairs in an entresol. The stairs are tricky to go up or down and have no hand-rail, exactly why I liked the whole space so much! (honestly, no irony here)
We really liked the area too, some local places I can recommend:
バールマール (Baru-Maru) - You can get some normal Japanese food there. Fish lunch set was the best.
Times Resort Public Baths (Sento) - if you like sento (or onsens) this is a good one, and very close.
Northern bank of Arakawa river - this is a 20ish minute trip by foot. You can relax on the bank's grass and watch a juniors baseball game, with Arakawa and Tokyo as background. They probably play on Sundays. Maybe Saturdays.

Quiet and traditional Tokyo location. Konbini store 24h around the corner. Coin laundry (needed..) 5 Mins walk away. Some good restaurants are available around metro station which is apprx. a 15 Mins walk. Small park 5 Mins away. Room was very spacious with AirCon. Family was friendly, however not too communicative during my stay, making it a less beneficial stay for language students. Residential area around is quite cosy and quiet.

I am very happy with my stay overall with them!! In the morning, Yuriko makes very yummy breakfast, Western and Japanese! The best thing I ever had was fish sausage!! I never imagined I'd like that!! Her husband was very helpful, he even offered to take us to the station on our flight back and helped us with the tickets!! The rooms were spacious and the beds were very comfortable, the rooms and bathrooms are very clean. I would love love love to go back to their house, it was the best ever experience of my life with them, thank you so much for making my trip memorable <3

I had a wonderful time staying with the Tsukamoto family. They were kind and understanding of my shyness to speak Japanese, and were good listeners when I did try to speak. Breakfast was yummy. I really enjoyed the cultural experience of this homestay!

The room was chilly (I came in mid-March) and could use a small heater, but they provided lots of blankets so it wasn't a big deal.

I had a fantastic time at Tsukamoto house! They were very nice and always welcoming. They were genuinely interested in how my days went, where I was going and to make sure to be safe. I really appreciate all of the conversations during the morning breakfast times. Being my first time to Japan it was nice to practice Japanese conversation in a safe environment.
They are super close to a convenient store, an easy 12 minute walk to Tokyo Metro lines, and there is a bus stop close by. When I return to Tokyo I will be sure to visit again!
