We very much enjoyed our stay with Yuriko and Jin. The room was spacious, well air conditioned, and clean. It was great to have a sofa in there too! The breakfasts were always freshly made and delicious. Yuriko and Jin are both lovely and are delightful to talk with. They are brilliant hosts! The location is very good, close by to a convenience store and a train station. We would happily stay here again.

First of all, thank you so much for responding to all my questions and preparing for my arrival. It was a very pleasant and fruitful stay at Tsukamoto House! I wish I could give more than 5 hearts! The couple, both at their seventies, is so kind and helpful. I could never imagined that we could bond so well on the very first day we met. I really enjoy every moment spent with them (having meals and watching television together). Despite my super lousy Japanese, both of them were so patient in listening to what I was trying to convey (using a mixture of Japanese single words + English + hand gestures). Surprisingly, it worked! We had so much wonderful conversations and interactions that makes me miss them so much now. It was indeed an awesome experience that I will never forget for the rest of my life. On the day of my departure, the sweet grandma told me that she would feel lonely after I left and that really touched my heart. It really surprised me that they have hosted more than 150 visitors in just these recent few years! I can see their happy faces when they share with me their experience in hosting people from all over the world and I can feel that they really enjoy doing this. Wishing them good health and happiness. Thanks so much for everything during my stay!

The Tsukamoto Family is really nice and they try to help you as much as possible. They give you directions and help you choose the right train. Breakfast is always good and freshly made.

Yuriko-san and Jin-san were absolutely wonderful hosts and made my stay so enjoyable. I stayed in the loft room which was incredibly spacious; especially by Japanese standards. I loved Machiya—such a lovely little quiet neighborhood. And of course, I loved the wonderful breakfasts each day—you definitely won't go hungry. :) I hope to come back again next year, if possible! 本当にありがとうございました!ご親切は決して忘れません。

I was little late to this review, but yeah tt was totally great. Communication wasn't bad at all. I speak to them with Japanese most of the time which wasn't bad at all. The place itself is not bad. It is the most welcoming place ever. I can't wait to come back again to meet Mr. and Mrs. Tsuchimoto. Grandma and Grandpa. That's what I called most of the time just like family. Thank you very much!

I had a wonderful time during my stay with the Tsukamoto family! They are both really kind and welcoming people and tried to help whenever they could and did their best to make my stay more comfortable than it already was. The breakfast was delicious and always something different. While eating breakfast we always had enjoyable conversations and they were always interested in my plans for the day and helped me with directions.
The next train station is about a 10 minute walk away and there is a bus stop close by, too. The next convenient store is literally next to their house and there are many other shops nearby.
On my last day, they gave me a ride to the station and helped me with buying the train tickets.
All in all I had a great experience!
I highly recommend the Tsukamoto house to anyone planning on visiting Tokyo and I would love to visit them again!

I loved the big quiet room and the conversation over breakfast. I'm 57 so I liked staying with an older couple. They were very patient with my Japanese and Yuriko has a good sense of humor. I enjoyed looking at Jin's photo books of all the visitors. They gave me advice on using the phone, bus, and trains and even gave me a ride to the station the last day. I'd like to come back with my husband and stay there again. Machida is a sweet quiet place. I suggest the set lunch at Baru Maru, which is run by women, it seems. The coloring book art museum five minutes walk away looks great, but it was closed.
