LOCAL TRAVEL, FOOD AND TOURIST INFO :
Just 10 minutes by cab to Sentral Station, which has direct train access to both airports and various parts of mainland Malaysia. We can sometimes pick up and drop off guests at the station if we are available, at no charge.
EATING AND DRINKING:
There is Cafeteria inside the Royal Regent with Western, Chinese and Thai foods. You can spend the night time hangout of Publika Shopping Mall, Solaris Mont Kiara & Sri Hartamas with international restaurants, bars and clubs, that attracts large crowds, throughout the week into the early hours, drinks prices are high, beware of cut price cocktails.
For who just want that street-food treat, head for Jalan Alor less than 10 minutes away by driving, open in part all day, but in full through the evening until 4am. Malaysian, Chinese and Thai food stalls line this one street on both sides, and we are happy to recommend our favourites, reasonably priced and cheap beer. Vegetarians are well catered for here thanks in part to Hindu and Buddhist faiths.
The Arab and Korean communities are well established here and they are well represented in terms of restaurants and grocery stores.

TOURISM AND SHOPPING:
The malls, museums and historic centers of KL are all within walking distance or by short taxi rides and public transport. I walk just about everywhere, but sometimes the cool airs of a commuter train or monorail are too hard to resist, both just 10 minutes away. If you are a walker, remember this is a tropical country; umbrellas are good as protection against rain and sun. A folding fan can really take edge of the heat, and of course a bottle of water, though you might prefer to grab a fresh coconut, or sugar cane drink. Trains, malls and cinemas can feel very chilly after being exposed to the outdoor heat.

GETTING AROUND:
Taxis are the way people travel around in KL as it is super cheap and much more reliable than public transport. You can use the app 'My Teksi' to make it easy to get picked up to go anywhere you like. Or you can go down to Condo Lobby to hail one. Always try and stop a moving taxi rather than one parked outside a hotel or at taxi stands - standard advice for most countries. All taxis are required by law to use their metres but KL taxis are internationally notorious & voted as the worst in the world for many years in a row for naming prices, being grumpy, refusing to go to your destinations etc. After-midnight fares are 50% more. Taxis from railway stations and airports are normally paid for at a desk with a booking fee.
Some people skip this by going to departure exits instead. Please note that Malaysian drivers drive insanely fast and inconsiderate.
The train from the airport is the best way into KL but does not run all night.
Distances below supplied by online journey planners, some shortened by us as the websites do not have the short cut shown in the map in our gallery. Walking times will vary depending on levels of fitness, crowds, weather and your being a tourist/shopper etc.
