About the Homestay

About the Area
My house is located in a quiet residential neighbourhood. The train station, which is a 5 minute walk, is now a museum as there are no passenger trains left in Mexico other than the Copper Canyon, unfortunately. Cristiania Parque is a 10 minute walk, as is the bus station from where you can catch the bus to visit other lakeside towns or go into the historic centre of Guadalajara for the day. On Mondays visit the Chapala Tianguis, the biggest market in the area. The lake is a 20 minute walk as are various restaurants located along the malecon. Sample tacos from local vendors along the main street. The house is 25 minutes from the Guadalajara airport and 45 minutes from downtown Guadalajara.

Susan was a perfect host. Knowledge in the area a great source of information. The accommodations were comfortable and her home is bright open and clean. Centrally located it made getting around town easy to navigate, of course a thoughtful map was provided. I would definitely recommend Susan as a host you don’t want to miss and I look forward until we meet next time.
Susan's home was exactly as described in the listing. The room was very large and pleasant, the bed was great, the neighborhood reasonably quiet, and it was a 15 minute walk to downtown Chapala. Susan was a considerate host and immediately dealt with a couple of issues I had (the issues are not relevant to other guests, but Susan's responsiveness is). I would however caution people with cat allergies that this is not an appropriate place for them. And those who are mosquito magnets like me should think twice about visiting this area during the rainy season.
Susan's place is not in gringo land, but in an authentic Mexican settlement. There are not many English speakers around but you should be able to manage nonetheless. If you want to experience Mexican culture, then this is a good place to stay. If you're looking for a place with lots of ex-pats to hang out with, then I suggest you look closer to Ajijic.
Susan was a wonderful host, extremely informative about the area and great basic accommodations.
Susan was a good host
Susan was very accomodating. Her place is very clean and is a wonderful host. I do reccomend her for future guests. If you like living in old Mexico, this is the place, friendly people. EW
Susan was a lovely host. She was helpful, pleasant and well informed. Her home is comfortable, clean and well located. My room was large with adequate closet space and a desk. The guest bathroom was mine alone as there was no one staying in the other guest bedroom.
I had been to the Chapala area before but Susan helped me expand my horizons. She is very knowledgeable about the locale and community. I did not have a car and was able to walk or take a bus anywhere I wanted/needed to go. It was about a 20 minute walk to Chapala Centro, (main intersection) and about 10-15 minutes to the bus. I am very glad I chose Susan's for my recent trip to Lakeside and would definitely stay there again.
