I was so lucky to have been able to stay with Emma. The room was very nice, the food was great and Emma was so helpful, not only with suggestions about Guanajuato but also for my Spanish (I was in Guanajuato to study Spanish). I highly recommend staying with a Emma.

My 6-week stay with Emma and Juan Jose was very enjoyable. The bedrooms for homestay guests are located away from the family quarters and feel very private and comfortable. Emma is an excellent cook and the meals were very good. Their home is about a 25-minute walk from centro and is located in a nice, well-lit neighborhood. I would highly recommend this homestay.

Emma and Juan are very friendly, and really made us feel at home. Emma is a professional chef, and the family owns a bakery/pastry shop, so the food was outstanding! Emma nearly always sat and talked with us during meals, and helped us with our Spanish. She has a delightful sense of humor, so we had lots of laughs. Emma and Juan have been hosting students for many years, who often return because of the warm, homey atmosphere. Our room had lots of space, and even a view of the mountains. Though the house is not located in the historic centre of the city, bus and cab service is frequent and inexpensive...most of the time we walked back and forth from the the centre, enjoying the exercise and city sights. Emma is very knowledgeable about the city, and the options for Spanish language learning. We decided to take courses at Escuela Mexicana, and were very pleased with our experience!
If you are looking for a safe and welcoming home base for learning Spanish and exploring this charming and lively colonial town, this is an excellent choice, and great value for the money.

Emma's house is a wonderful place to stay. The food was amazing, and Emma and Juan are kind, welcoming people with lots of homestay experience. They are extremely knowledgeable about the city and were always willing answer my questions. In addition, the set-up of the house provides for plenty of privacy and independence. I would highly recommend this homestay.
