About the Homestay
There is probably no better way to be immersed in the host culture than to share everyday life with a family. Often the host family becomes like a second family for students. It offers an environment to use your spanish on a daily basis and to develop a rich vocabulary. Living with a host family provides a direct introduction to Mexican family.
We are a friendly mexican family of 4 members and 2 dogs. We offer a "garden house" full equipped with two twins bed and a sofa bed (three adults or 2 adults and one minor can be perfectly accommodate), full kitchen, bathroom with shower, living and dinning room, swimming pool an a beautiful garden. We love to receive guest and we treat them like family respecting their privacy.
We can offer package with meals or you can cook by your self. We include pick up and we love to invite our guest to different social and cultural activities.

About the Area
Located in the north of the city; the safest area in town; very quiet neighborhood located 5 minutos from malls, restaurante, bus station and very close from hospitals. If you like to run or do exercise is offers the best spaces to do that,

Hosts can offer a complimentary light breakfast at their discretion. All other meals, including a full breakfast, might incur an additional cost, if offered. Meals and any additional payment should be arranged directly with your host.

Laundry service: You and your host family will establish a laundry day and you should give them the laundry back in the appointment day and the family will give your clothes back 1 or 2 days after, depending on the laundry process. You can also use the washing machine by yourself once a week. Please make sure that you put clothes using the maximum capacity of the washing machine, to save energy and water.
Toilet paper: As we in Merida don´t have sewer system we kindly we ask you to NOT throw toilet paper in the toilet directly. You should put it into the trash can. You can take out your trash in a close garbage bag mondays and fridays.
Air conditioner and lights: Mexican electricity is very expensive and Mexicans are used to reducing the use of electricity by turning the lights off in rooms that they are not using even momentarily. We also only use the air conditioner to refresh the room during the night when is neccesary, but we kindly ask you do not use it more than 8 hours a day. Otherwise the host family could charge additional light comsuption.
Guest: Please do not invite anyone home for any given reason without previously asking your family's permission and visiting hours.
Smoking: This is a non-smoking home, smoking is not allowed inside the house.
Alcohol: You must be at least 18 years old in order to buy and consume alcohol in México. In case of breaking this rule police will be notified.
Swimming pool: You are allowed to use the swimming pool. Please do not bring crystal glasses for your own safety. We do not have lifeguard service, so your security during swimming will be your entire responsability.
Optional trips: The family will offer you optional tours and trips and you can decide in wich one you want to participate; many of these can include extra cost, so you should pay the extra cost to the family before the trip.
Keys and entrance: you will be provided with a key for the house or an Access code to the house/building. If the family have pets please be so carefull when opening dors and make sure the pets dont go outside.
Absenses: Please notify the family if you would be absence from the home for a night or longer, so they can locate you in case of emergency. Remember that if your luggage is in the homestay family house, you are occupying the room; so they will not reimburse any ammount if you go on vacactions, or absence in general.
Smoking is not allowed.
How do I book?
Contact the host to check their availability and ask them any questions you have about staying with them. Once the host confirms they’re available for your dates, you can complete your booking.
When do I pay?
Once a host confirms they're available, you can go ahead and pay the 15% booking fee (maximum of 250 $£€ for longer term bookings) using a choice of payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Laser, JCB & PayPal (not available in certain countries). You then pay your host on arrival or as stated by your host on their profile and agreed by you on booking. Please be cautious if a host requests advance payment if its not included on their profile. Our hosts have been advised that if they wish to request advance payment they must make this explicit in their profile. We do not recommend the use of Money gram or Western Union.
When can I share my contact details?
Host and Guest email address, phone number and home address will be exchanged in a confirmation email sent to both immediately after a booking is completed. It's against our policy for Guests and Hosts to exchange direct contact details via our messaging system.
