About the Homestay
I live with my husband, a native of Merida, and our young son and daughter, in a colonial house we restored on the southwest side of the Centro Historico. Our home is a 15 minute walk from the center of downtown, and our neighborhood is full of places to shop and eat, parks to stroll in and local culture to soak up.
We are both trained chefs, so our kitchen is fully equipped to whip up anything you might find in the central market. We have a beautiful pool and many lounging areas, plus a big screen tv, wifi and three bikes you are welcome to use.

About the Area
One home is located a short walk from four lovely parks, San Sebastián, Santiago, La Ermita and San Juan. It is also 3 blocks from the bus station servicing points outside of the city. It is a direct 15 minute bus ride or short taxi trip from the airport.
The local bus to the Plaza Grande stops on our corner, or it is 15-20 minutes on foot. We are also very close to a large supermarket, the free Centenario park and zoo, many corner stores, a tortilleria, places to grab lunch or ice cream, and a well-stocked bakery.

If we could give Erin more than five stars, we would! She has a beautiful, comfortable home and family and we really enjoyed ourselves. She was very thoughtful with details in our room such as a hammock, water, decor, nightstands with lamps, comfy chairs, hangers, pool towels, outdoor shower, etc. We were able to use her kitchen to cook ourselves and the breakfasts she made us were spectacular! We had the upstairs room with the screened balcony and its a really large space. We were easily walkable to several parks, buses and the house is easily identifiable for uber pickup. We would definitely stay there again.
Big, comfy bedrooms with private bathrooms, A/C, super clean pool, full use of kitchen, fun family, lots of advice and good ideas for activities in and out of town... and Erin makes you a special breakfast every morning. <3
What a neat family to get to know! The breakfasts were delicious and substantial, the home decor was fun and creative, and the pool was a nice way to cool down before the afternoon siesta. We would definitely stay with Erin again.
La casa de la famille Gomez est juste magnifique et très bien située, les petits déjeuners ainsi que sa cuisine sont excellents et locaux...nous recommandons cette famille très accueillante
If you want to stay in the Centro area this is a great location. The hosts offer a primo breakfast and solid advice about the area. A comfortable bed and lovely screened balcony came with our room. You will get an artistic translation of contemporary family life.
Merida is a very safe and interesting city to walk. We loved going to the symphony, walking the streets and plazas, and easy access to buses. Thanks for a warm reception.
