About the Area

Our house is nestled on a hillside in a country-like setting NOT in Centro San Miguel, but very accesible-which is what we love about it! Our safe, quiet no-through fare cobblestone street is located in Monte de Loreto, a new but typical Mexican Colonia which has both Mexican and International residents. We know all our neighbours and are part of "Neighbourhood Watch" Our street sits off a country road aside an old ranching property with panoramic vistas overlooking the mountains and the church steepled spires of the historic center. Besides the city markets, we have a local market on Mondays and Saturdays in the next neighbourhood about 5 blocks away. Every restaurant in town delivers-all for a $3 tip! Pizza and local street food is available nearby and there are also small "tiendas" or stores throughout the neighbourhood, and fresh tortillas and fruit and vegetables are delivered to our door daily. There is a very inexpensive but well equipped gym in walking distance and numerous yoga, dance and Zumba classes close by. At the top of our street there is a biking/walking/running track that leads to the to botanical gardens and water reservoir. There is also a children's playground a few minutes walk away.
