About the Homestay
I'm a retired diplomat living with my 2 cats in this 3 story 3 bedroom house which I renovated after arriving here 10 years ago. We are within five minutes walk to the heart of town where all of the festival and cultural action is centered.
I have WiFi, cable TV and a full sized professional pool table on the upper floor terrace which guests are welcome to enjoy while relaxing in the house. There is a pretty fair library and 3 outdoor patio areas where guests can relax and enjoy the great weather this part of Mexico affords. The main patio on the lower floor is off the kitchen and living area and boasts a beautiful small garden, BBQ and fully stocked bar. The living room has a gas fireplace to take the chill off the evenings when needed.
The location is safe and relatively quiet bearing in mind this is Mexico. I like to cook and may invite guests to lunch or dinner. Light breakfast and coffee/tea is included. Most guests however want to be out and around town soaking up the local cultural scene, the historic architecture, the many fashion, art and artisan boutiques and the hundreds of eating and drinking establishments in the downtown area of my beautiful town.

Living with me is casual with few limits. I do like to close the house to party noise by midnight in deference to my neighbors. The bar is on your honor - pay as you go system. I am the only cook but light breakfast including cereals, fruit and drinks is self serve. Quests of quests are welcome but not overnight. Smoking on patios only.
Smoking is allowed outdoors only.
Don is a really interesting guy. He's a gracious host, has lived here 16 years, and his casa is in an excellent Centro location.
Don is an interesting man, a gracious host, and his house is in a perfect Centro location.
This guest awarded the host 4 hearts but didn’t leave any comments.
Fue una estadía muy grata. Donald nos recibio muy bien. La casa es limpia, bonita, comoda, y tiene una muy buena ubicación. Pudimos ir y venir al centro caminando.
La habitación es muy calida y comoda.
Donald is a nice host, his house is really comfortable, will recommend people to stay in Donald's house which is near to the cathedral, and enjoy their stay in San Miguel.
If you are planning to take a car parking isn't a problem you can park on the street like all the other people, also the room is really nice and his cats too.
This place is exactly as described in its Homestay listing. The house is a short walk to the main square, so is very near the middle of the action. Though there is lots of traffic and several churches in the area, the house is surprisingly quiet inside. We felt welcome and quite secure. One of the cats adopted us immediately which made us feel right at home. We both developed high fevers our first day in SMA, but Donald got us in to see his doctor at 7 PM. Fortunately, the bed was comfortable as we spent a lot of time there recovering from the bronchitis. We saved our limited energy by taking taxis (40 pesos-$2.35 CDN) even for short trips , so we still got to see the many art shops and historical sites in the Centro area.
Don is a very congenial and helpful host. His place is quite central with an easy walk to el jardin. I stayed in the smaller room which has an interesting tiled bathroom just down the hall. The larger room has an en-suite with a terrace. His kitchen is well stocked with breakfast items and it is a help-yourself to what's there. I had a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend this homestay.
